If that was true then the PS3 would be limited in the same way...there's no way they'd let it only be playble on component TV's.

Not necessarily. The games arent going to be on Bluray discs, they are going to be on DVDs, so you can use the component cables for that.

Not really, you can still play the games on a normal TV and it'll be like the other system (don't want to offend anyone) with a downgrade in graphics. But to take advantage of Blu Ray technology, you have to have a HDTV.

Visual improvements is one part of the equation.

Storage(that studios and devleopers can use to make bigger games/movies/collections) is the other.

We don't know if PS3 games won't look great on SDTV's. MGS4 would blow away anyone on any TV(just like Gears of Wars)..

I was talking about the movies, but yes, you are correct. The storage aspect is the driving force.

In reality, we don't know how either game is going to fully look, neither is done. But from videos, I am with you.

I have no idea about this, but just going on Sony's history, I feel the first year or so will be DVD-9, then they will start using Blu Ray for games. Since it's a game, they can probably output it by composite or even RF.

Neither have I, I fully expect games to be on Blu-Ray disk; especially games like Final Fantasy.

To view a Blu Ray disc, you have to have a HDTV. Otherwise it's a just a DVD. Blu Ray, just like HD DVD can only be used with HDMI. Unless Sony convinces the movie companies to let them use component due to copyright issues. But even then your TV would have to have component in.

Actually the downrezzing of component inputs is dependant on the movie studios. Each disk will have what's called an ICT flag, if it's set to on it will downrez, if it's off, you will be able to get full resolution over component. So basically some movies will be down-rezzed over component and some won't, the packaging will state as such. As far as the games, they will all be full resolution over component. At least this is the latest I have read, but things could change.

There are people that are excited, but to be honest man, you are obsessed. You sound like a nut case. Whenever someone post's your so quick to respond, it's scaring me. It's like you face is stuck to your PC monitor waiting for someone to post so you can counter right away. You have never seen the PS3 in action, nor have you play it, or have any facts on anything you say, there all opinions. I think you need to relax a bit, your acting like Sony is your company and your sound like your trying to sell the system hard to people, just let it go man the WAR is over.

Obsessed? Hardly. I'm looking forward more than others on here, yes, but far from a nut case. What classifys as a nut case on here, is everyone else being personally offended with the fact that I'd rather spend time talking about the PS3 rather than the Xbox 360. With that said, they feel the need to justify their 360 purchase by critizing the PS3. Not everybody on here who owns a 360 does that, just the select few who it bothers.

I hardly wait for others to post and then respond my friend, it is the other way around. (I nearly fell out of my chair from laughter when I read that, good stuff!) With 200 something posts, most of which have been posted in the last week or so hardly labels me obsessed.

If you guys don't want to hear about the PS3, don't read the thread for it. If you're just a MS fan wanting to share your opinion about how you think the PS3 won't do this, or I won't use that, or whatever, just don't post anything at all. That goes for me too. I'll lay off the 360. If you feel the need to post about the 360, do so in your 360 forum. Afterall, that's what it's there for.

This is the only thread I have really posted in. I'm sure you post just as much, if not more, but in other threads. I can't deny this thread hasn't been interesting.
