The Natural Environments and Unique Landscape mods make the PC version spectacular. I want to update my PC so bad just to play it.

It has been laggy and choppy for me sometimes, though I haven't noticed it lately.

Do enemies upgrade with you? I'm having trouble taking down some enemies and have to resort to backing up and using ranged attacks, which, depending on the enemy and number of them, can be kind of frustrating.

Also, when should I do Shivering Isles? I'm assuming thats the "strange door" marker?

I need to buy a house, but have no money. I've thought about stealing from the Counts and Countesses at night - is that a good idea?

Yes...the enemies DO upgrade with you, which is the worst part of the game. Your best bet is to tackle the Oblivion gates early to avoid being destroyed.

Does anyone know if the pc version is able to be modded to stop enemies leveling up with you?

I haven't seen one, but there is a difficulty slider in the options I believe.

I personally like the fact they level up with you. keeps it from getting too easy.

I can sort of see both sides of it but when you are very powerful it gets rediculous when you have a fight to the death against 3 rats. They should have scaled the bosses and left the little minions at a default level imo. That way you get to actually feel powerful and smash lessor creatures and people but "boss" type characters would still present a challenge.

Yes, absolutely. There are several excellent mods for the PC version that accomplish this.

The best in my opinion is Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul. It edits an unbelievable amount of stuff, but most importantly it provides a level cap for every enemy in the game so they will only level with you to a certain point. Once they hit their cap, you will surpass them. It balances this by adding more high level enemies to dungeons and other areas of the world that should be more difficult.

The other important change it makes is to the equipment that enemies carry. You will only find high value equipment like Glass, Daedric, etc on high level characters. No more glass weapons on a common bandit like it default Oblvion.

                  Hope this helps.

Grab it from this link instead:

The original developer is no longer working on the project but somebody else took it over to make bug fixes, etc.

There's also an extensive readme that describes all the changes. I use quite a few mods on my copy so if you're looking for anything else, let me know.

Just to warn you though. If multiple mods don't play nice together it can cause more crashes and glitches.
