The only reason I stoped playing it was because my 360 RROD on me for the first time. After that I never put the Oblivion back into my system. Also I played this game before I had live and I was so close to beating it on my offline profile but then I joined Live and made a new profile like a idiot instead of converting my offline one online. So I had to start over in my Online one and got turned off. But has anyone else played this game recently and cant seem to get enough of it?
I'mnot playing it right now, buit everytime I got to my game library I swear its screaming " PLAY ME!!!"

I may just listen one of these days.

I'm thinking of picking this up (or Mass Effect) for Christmas break. I tried Morrowind a couple years ago and aside from being completely intimidated by the massiveness of it all, the first person view turned me off, especially during combat. I was wondering if you guys would recommend Oblivion or not.

If you liked Morrowind then you will Love Oblivion, with that said I think you will still be intimidated by the massiveness if you choose to do all of the side missions (The meat and potatoes of the game IMO).

The game is massive and will consume your social life(you have been warned LOL). Excellent entertainment though.

I highly recommend both games. Oblivion is a life claimer though. Set aside a lot of free time, lol.

The combat in Oblivion, while still first person, is a big improvement over Morrowind's D&D in first person.

Honestly, I'd go with Mass Effect. I think it's a better game, but both are fantastic. If possible, I'd go with Oblivion on the PC, as mods are great. I haven't played it since spring 2007, so I don't know what the mod folk have done with it since, but there were a lot of solid add-ons. You'll probably have to sacrifice some graphics, but being able to do whatever you want with the game whenever you want far outweighs worse textures.

So, combat cannot be switched to third person view?

It can. It kind of sucks, but it can be done.

I really wouldn't let that dissuade you. It is awkward at first, but you'll be drawn into the game enough that after 5-10 hours, you won't notice.

I agree 100%. Mass Effect is awesome and Oblivion is still sweet even several years after it's been out.

Oblivion was one of the 1st RPG's I ever really got into. The sidequests were awesome, the environment was amazing. There is just so much to explore.

I like Fable II's living breathing feel...having little kids wander about etc., and I wish that there was that same dynamic in Oblivion...But the exploring, dungeon diving, and guilds are unmatched, IMO.

Like another poster stated...Elder Scroll II calls out to me too...NBA 2K9 just calls out louder though.

Fable 2 made me realize how much I missed Oblivion, Fallout 3 made me get back into it. Since I am starting from scratch( for the 3rd time) I am going to make this one count.

Oblivion is my Favorite game ever and Bethesda is my favorite developer. The Real question is, When will the next Elder Scrolls game come out...

I wish I had time to play this, but every time I pop the disc in I spend at least 3 hours playing and with intermediate accounting and tax accounting I just can't spare that much time, but I freakin' miss it. I had just joined the Thieves and Fighters guilds. Is it possible to kill/murder someone and remain in those guilds because I would like to get into the Dark Brotherhood, as well.
