the barcode doesn't matter, it'll still come up at wal-mart. how do I know? well I bought a color and black ink cartridges off ebay for cheap. I rarely print anything in color so I never used the color cartridge. My printer ran out of black ink and I didn't want to spend $30 to buy a new one. I took the unused color ink cartridge to wal-mart yesterday and exchanged it for a black in cartridge. So of course, I never bought it from them anyways."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

At least they extended the warranty to six months. I just got my xbox a week ago and no problems so far but I am surprised how hot it runs and how loud the fan can be. Do they all run this hot? I'm worried if I play for extended periods of time that it's going to get fried.Comment

Re: HELP! My 360 just died... what can I do?
Just keep calling and bitching. I've had my 360 replaced twice already. I got the 1st one on launch.
Also, this last time I called them they sent PGR3 along with it.Comment

Re: HELP! My 360 just died... what can I do?
I'm in Canada so maybe it's different but they never even asked if mine was under warranty. They just asked for the serial # and when I got it.
My first one got 3 red lights in march. Took 20 days to get it replaced.
Now the replacement messed up the Rumble Rose XX disc (bunch of scratches and a crack in the center) and I called again and they're sending the box again so they can "take a look at it". Never asked for any money, hope the game will still work with the next "repaired" one.Comment

Re: HELP! My 360 just died... what can I do?
I used to work in customer support at Sony, so I know a little on how the game is played. Like others have mentioned keep calling everyday, don't stop. Let them know you are aware of the system failures, and sound forceful.
If the Walmart thing doesn't work, call your State Attorneys office and file a complaint. Depending on the State you live in there are lemon laws on the books. The problem is you need to have your info ready to present, like the article at IGN.
Also something most people overlook is call your local news channels. That's right call your ABC, NBC, and CBS affilates and have them file a story (Consumer Affairs)that Microsoft sells defective products. These news agencies love those types of stories and they will deal with Microsoft themselves. Not to many businesses like bad press coverage.
Lastly not to get personal but if your young and you sound the part you might want to get your dad or someone older who will push the issue.
Here in Florida Microsoft is not allowed to sell extended warranties ( don't know why). Microsoft would have a tougher time with me because if I bought it at Walmart or Target with no addtional warranty they would need to make it right based on the systems poor track record.
Finally keep in mind a CSR's supervisor is not the last line of defense there's another level and another level after that. Inform them you are a fan of the Xbox and the 360 and you have sold several of your friends on 360 purchases. Tell them they will lose you as a customer for good and you will never recommend them again.
Good luck !Last edited by Rodster; 05-27-2006, 03:30 AM.Comment

Originally posted by nxtWell... my 360 just died on me. 3 red rings and freezes. I've done all the power reboots....removed the HD.... and nothing works. I didn't purchase any kind of extended warranty. Am I SOL? If so, I think that's it for my NEXTGEN experience for a while. Will XBOX still accept my 360 to fix, repair or replace? Anyone who's gone throught this, please give me some tips or advise.
I don't want to pay for repairs after I've spend $400 plus already. Any suggestions.
Damn.... I was so looking forward to NCAA on the 360 to.
I would take it outside and shoot it.Comment

Re: HELP! My 360 just died... what can I do?
Maybe it's just because of my retail sales background, but dude, it's your fault. You should've bought the extended warranty. This is EXACTLY the reason why you should buy it.
I paid the extra $50 for my extended warranty, which came in handy, and quite frankly, I'll be pissed if they wind up giving you a new unit WITHOUT you having to buy it.
I mean...if you get the same service I got without having to pay for it, why the hell did I bother sending them my $50?
No offense, but I really hope they don't give you a new system without you having to fork out some cash for it. Next time, don't be so cheap. Buy the warranty.Comment

You never know, MS may just replace it for him even though it defeats the policies that have been put into place.Comment

Originally posted by nxtI'm definitely gonna have to try the Walmart thing. I hate do have to do it, but I feel like my back's against the wall. I don't want to take the $400 plus hit. I'm sure the retailers will have an easier time getting refunded.Twitch

Companies should not be allowed to sell products that don't work correctly. End of story.Comment
