I have never played the series before now so......... But the game is really fun. It's a great FPS game. I will be playing this instead of Halo. Not a big halo fan for some reason. Controls are very easy to get used too. Only have a crowbar and a gun so far so I don't know how many weapons there are. THere is lots of walking around and figuring stuff out for your self as far as where you need to go etc.

I wish I could play some more this afternoon, but I don't want to play it in front of my son. Lots of blood.

HL > Halo IMO. Story is very compelling and draws you in. It's a great experience. At least it was for me.

Half Life 2 is the best single player game I have ever played. Get it now.

It may be too early to tell, but are you liking the SP better than Halo 3's campaign?

green, both Half Life 1 and 2 singleplayer component imo is better than the Halo series SP component. I am a big Halo fan, but Dr. Gordon Freeman's story and the mythos behind Black Mesa, etc. are very interesting. Both franchises are excellent, but Half Life has the upper edge ever so slightly.

Well I picked it up while I was in Atlanta this morning. Back home now, will give it a try in just a few. I've never played the series, so it's all going to be new to me as well.

I'd like to hear some impressions on TF2 as well. I've played through HL 1 and episode 1, so I would only play through episode 2, which is like 5 hours long and then after that I would only play TF2.

I want to know if there's a lot of people playing it, if it's easy to find a game, can you party up, what's the lobbies like, etc? thanks.

I just played a game of TF2. It was a lot of fun and I can see where you have to find a few classes you are good at. I was the scout at firat and managed to capture the flag once. They had an Engineer who had good gun placement and because I went it alone I got smeared a lot. I think you need good team play in this one and that will be interesting ocnsidering how many numnuts there are online. With that said please send me friend invites if you want to get in some games. I like playing with some of the "older" crowd here.

One thing though...my game did get disconnected and this does seem to be a bit of an issue. Hopefully Valve will get right on any problems.

For those that are into achievements (I'm not, don't see the point), Valve got special permission from Microsoft to exceed the max of 50/game and they have 99 total, with some for each game on the disc.

Dumb question, but how long is the SP mode? I'm on the fence about this game and I was trying to figure out if it was more of a rental or if I should go buy it.
