How many systems did M$ send out and how many did they project?

I trust Nintendo will come through with their numbers since this is suppose to be the largest number of consoles for a launch in almost 10 years.

A Best Buy mole just dropped some interesting tidbits about the upcoming PS3 and the Wii launches. The mole reports that there are over 900 Wii units on order for his/her/its district of 10 stores. What's more our insider adds his/her/its store is getting a little over a hundred:

They will be in stock on launch day. No October 29 crap like that first image you guys posted a little while ago. There are 748 stores in the US. If you average 102 units per store, there will be around 76,296. If the 1 million is an appropriate launch amount, that means as a company, we'll be getting 7.6% of launch units. That doesn't seem like much, but considering we got the majority of 360 launch units (my store got almost 80 combined), and there's an *** load of other video game stores abound, that's high up there.

If each Best Buy gets 100+ Wii units, if you go at open on Sunday than I bet you can walk out with a system.

We also have to figure that 400,000 PS3 owners may not be able to afford both the Wii and PS3, and some 360 owners may not buy this system, those of us that didn't prepay might be alright if we go get the system bright and early.

If thats true about the Wii numbers, I like my odds of going into WalMart that Saturday night. By the way, the Zelda release date is Nov. 13th according to Best Buy's website, so. Sucks that I don't have a Best Buy around me though.

I was laughing at that picture.

All I need is Zelda, Component Cables, and the classic controller on launch and I'll be happy since we do get Wii Sports with the system already + I can download some old school favs from day one.

I'll have to hold off on the VC since I'll have to hook up a wireless router to connect the Wii. BTW, I preordered Zelda from BestBuy.com and if it does ship before the Wii, I'm going to be a wreck waiting to get my hands on the system.

Has anybody thought of, rather than camping out, trying to order the system online on the launch day?

Same here. That and being able to play GC games since I missed out all those. I have the RE trilogy on order. I just need to pick up a GC memory card.

GameCube Docking Station
When standing vertically, a flap located at the top of the Wii is designed to specifically accomodate Gamecube players. The GCN docking stations has inputs for up to four Gamecube controllers and two Memory Paks. The inputs are fully compatible with Wave Bird wireless controllers, too. Wii owners interested in exploring Nintendo's back catalog of Gamecube games will need Gamecube controllers and Memory Paks to do so as the Wii-mote and nunchuk are incompatible with GCN games.

Does this mean I have to pick up a GCN controller or will the Wii Classic Controller work with GCN games?

That really sucks if you ask me.

One side of the Wii(or at least a little part of a side) is dedicated to the GC. It has controller inputs and memory card inputs.

Compared to being able to save on a SD is sucks, but compared to having a terrible and short list of backwards compatible games(see: 360) it is a decent trade off. You can get a 128 MB GC MC for under $10 on eBay brand new. It is an annoyance, but I would much rather have it than not be able to play GC games, since there were so many good exclusives for that system that most people never got a chance to play.

The Wii Launch Guide was sketchy on this. The part you quoted makes it sound like you do, but in the description of the classic controller it says the two thumbsticks were added to make playing GC games easier, so I'm not sure how it will work.
