Re: Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii PREORDER discussion
I wonder if you could have a shot in a low density area to skip the whole overnight crazy crowd and try and beat the early morning folks (like waking up at 4 or 5 am)?
I've heard a lot of mixed opinions, with the majority saying "be ready to camp out," but I don't need it that badly. What I'm thinking is that if I take the day off, drive around the night before looking for idiots outside, and then go to the one with the fewest early that next day... ??? Thoughts? I'm not saying I'm confident it would work, but I'm looking for alternatives with the notion that it would be cool if I could score one without the war story. I also think it's not going to get any easier to get one approaching Christmas, so without a lot of luck, launch day could be it for '06. PS3 of course...Comment

Re: Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii PREORDER discussion
Thats my plan B if I can't get a preorder online. Last year with the release of the 360, there was barely any line at all. So I'm thinking there won't be much of a line and hopefully Wal-Mart gets more than TRU will. Either way I'm sure Nintendo will deliver on their "4 million by the end of 06" projection. At least I'm hoping they will.

Re: Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii PREORDER discussion
I actually picked up a Nintendo WII pre-order yesterday (Sunday) at TRU.
7 people stood in line during the night for a PS3 pre-order. There were only 6 PS3s (2 60gb, 4 20gb) pre-orders, which meant 1 guy had to go home with a WII pre-order instead. I got there at 5am, and was able to get a pre-order. The Wii will be going to my bro for his bday.
Two questions:
1) At Walmart, is the Nintendo Wii going on sale at Midnight on Sunday, November 19th?
2) The PS3 will go on sale on Friday, November 17th. If I can't stay overnight at a Bestbuy or Walmart on that Thursday, are my chances of getting one pretty hopeless? Do you think any store will release a couple days afterward? How about Walmart?
3) Are any of you OS-ers planning on keeping your system (Wii or PS3) if you get one, or just putting it on ebay? Do you think the first batch of these systems will have problems? Did the first batch of Xbox 360's have problems??
Thanks and good luck pre-ordering!!Comment

The launch 360's did have issues. I don't recall a Nintendo system ever having a problem.Comment

Re: Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii PREORDER discussion
I think G4TV aka TechTV did an episode where they dragged a PS2 an Xbox and a Gamecube behind their car for 7 blocks. They tested each machine and the only one that not only came on but worked every time was the Gamecube.
I have never had a Nintendo give me any problems. Buy the Wee with confidence, if Nintendos name is on it then it's safe to say it wil be rock solid in reliability.Comment

2) Yes. I doubt any store will start selling the PS3 the week after its launch. All the big stores and video game stores will release it on launch and no later.
3) If I land a preorder online, I'm definitely keeping the Wii. I can't wait any longer for this bad boy. Not only am I looking forward to the new games, but I'm looking forward to going through the GameCube classics I missed out on. I've thought about driving over to my local WalMart at like 11-11:30 Nov. 18th just to see whats going on there.

Re: Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii PREORDER discussion
WalMart pre-sale apparently went up and is already sold out.
Edit: May also be a error in the site listing, but it's apparently a really large bundle.
Edit 2: Bundle is apparently Wii, 4 games of your choice, extra remote and nunchuck, and 2000 Wii point card. Site is also down for maintenance currently.Last edited by throwmonkey; 11-01-2006, 05:35 AM.Comment

Re: Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii PREORDER discussion
Based on the excellent track record of the N64, GBA, SP, DS, and GC, I would say Nintendo makes reliable equipment. The same can't be said for the other two console makers.Comment
