Re: Official Gears of War Impressions Thread
I think what I said was misunderstood. I was reffering to Gears of Wars' single player experience. I was just comparing my concern with Gears of Wars' to Splinter Cell.
Is GOW's single player experience alone worth the purchase? because I'm not all that into MP..."Your character is who you really are, your reputation is what you're perceived to be by others" - John Wooden(former UCLA head coach)Comment

Re: Official Gears of War Impressions Thread
I picked this game up on Wed. and I'm really diggin it. Although I didn't get a chance to play to long it was intense.
The enemy AI is really good, at one point early in the campaign (on Hardcore) I flanked the baddies to the right thinking I could chainsaw someone but they cut me off and killed me. Next time same spot I went left, but the enemies didn't do the same thing as before so again I didn't get the jump on them.
I haven't tried online yet but I hope to tonight after work.
If it has been said forgive me but has anyone noticed the guy who does Bender's voice does the voice for Fenix.Comment

If I was getting it just for single player, I would probably be disapointed. Just what I think though.Comment

Re: Official Gears of War Impressions Thread
Imo most definitely yes. I haven't played any MP yet and I'm enjoying the hell out of the game. It's just so freakishly beautiful. Just finished Act 1 on Hardcore a few min ago; guessing it took me 3hrs or so. Died a LOT - but I love this thing. And I can't wait to play through the game again. I think the story is pretty good so far; now that I know Cole is the office linebacker guy from those hiliarious Adidas commercials (forget his name for some reason) have been laughing at some of his lines. Really REALLY high quality game; a must buyHBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Re: Official Gears of War Impressions Thread
Still waiting for my EB to get the game in. The graphics in the commercial, is that what I should expect when I start playing the game or is that just cut scene quality?Free The Birds!!!Comment

I'm not a graphics whore by any means, but the graphics are really outstanding, a very good looking game...There should be no disappointment there, unless your expectations are just completely unrealistic.Comment

Re: Official Gears of War Impressions Thread
I played the multiplayer for a while last night. Fun game, but I would be absolutely stunned if it had the longevity of COD3, R6V, SC, or much else. The graphics are outstanding no doubt, but the maps are bland and small, everything you can do besides aim is tied to the A button, there are practically no gameplay modes, no variety of characters, and no objective-based combat except to protect one player.
But the absolute worst thing about the game....static weapon spawns. Every map is a race for the sniper rifle or some other weapon, which is really lame. And it wouldn't be so lame if there weren't such discrepancy between default weapons and found weapons, but there is. I can stand there and shoot someone for an hour with the default rifle, but they can pop my head off with one shot? That kind of overvalues the whole "race to the weapon" thing at the start of every map.
Like I said, great graphics and a fun game. But as for longevity....nah.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

Re: Official Gears of War Impressions Thread
i think the maps are sweet as well. And most maps give each side a speed advantage for a certain weapon.
Go get the gun buddy, or play with people that now how to use themGT: Event Horizon 0Comment

I'll enjoy it now in small doses, but I don't see it taking away my itch to play SC and CoD3 at this point.Comment
