Are you talking about the person who works at the plant? And some of the boards he's walking on break and he falls in?
If so, to cross the room you have to walk across the beams. Instead of looking at the wooden planks, just look for the metal beams under them.

Ok finally got a chance to spend some quality time offline and multiplayer so here is what I think....
Offline the game is good nice twist a overdone Genre... Havent beat the game like some but from what I have played of my campaign and others I will say this game definately ranks up there overall. The cover and interaction system (once you get the hang of it) is very good and will give you some very fluid movement while in battle. Add this to some other shooters and they would be 1000 times better.
Speaking of battle this game is crazy online... Its real personal. Its almost like a mortal kombat feel to it when your enemy finishes you off. It feels good to snatch a teammate from death allowing them to keep fighting but if you do get killed especially if its really vicious then you definately are looking for the guy who got you. The control system gives you some nice looking battles using a a rock as cover as you shoot at a guy on the other side. You have to choose your weapon wisely while fighting cause you dont want to get caught with the wrong weapon and your opponent has a chainsaw in your face.
All in all I loving the game and I have to say its the best shooter I have ever played.Comment

It has to be the one of the best feelings ever to throw some smoke at your enemy then rushing in for a chainsaw kill..... Some of these kills should be captured on film because they are just beautiful.Comment

Weapons should not be in the same spot every map. I HATE THAT! Like others have said, it seems to be a rush to the more powerful weapon.Comment

Just finished the part where you have to follow the paths of light to avoid the Krell swarms. Kinda frustrating IMO. Dominic would sometimes stop in a patch of darkness and get mortally wounded by the Krell. Then I would have to rescue him, resulting in the Krell killing me as well. If I choose to let him die, it's game over as well. Happend three friggin times!
Glad that part is over with.

Haven't played much online yet, but I love the game so far offline. The cover system is great. It's simple and intuitive. Occassionally your guy won't do what you expect when you hit the cover button, but its not often enough to be annoying. Graphics are amazing, and the game is smooth as silk.
I started playing on casual, but switched to hardcore after I got the controls down. The game is much more interesting on hardcore. It makes you pay if you lose focus and don't use the cover system. It's tough but it's not cheap. Enemy AI is pretty good as well. They will try to flank and will rush you if they see an opening. I would definitely recommend playing on hardcore.
