Re: Official Gears of War Impressions Thread
Am I a p*ssy if i say i was scared by the Berserker? holy crap...some scary stuff... oh and I see now why people are saying this is game of the year, you really feel like you're into the whole storyline here. Really amazing game.
Oh and on the flip side, I remember reading a lot of posts about people saying that people would be frustrated by the game and learning to control it and etc...maybe i'm just a whiz at the controls but i never had any problem, i went right into the whole control thing just fine and never had any problem with the "you must take cover" aspect either..Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Official Gears of War Impressions Thread
I'm half-way through Hardcore mode now, and I have to say I'm tiring of this really quickly.
It's an extremely short game - and there's nothing different about hardcore mode except the enemies are stronger. I was hoping they'd make bigger battles, more enemies, etc.
I've also found the teammate AI seems to get worse with each difficulty level. Why do I even have teammates? It would be way easier without them. Hell, I had to redo the first berzerker 10 times because Dom is completely useless and kept getting his skull crushed in. There was nothing I could do about it, and that's frustrating. I shouldn't have to keep redoing levels because the AI for my team is halfway ********.
My opinion on this game goes down the more I play it. It's got some amazing features, but the more I play it the more I see some huge flaws.
I'd give it a 7/10 now as opposed to probably a 9/10 when I first got it.Comment

This is one of the most polished bug free games I have ever played. It's near perfection. Cannot get enough of it.Comment

Re: Official Gears of War Impressions Thread
When I have to kill every enemy myself because my teammates have all died within the first 10 seconds of battle; I start to question if they're even needed.
That's not what I'd call polished. Polished would be more like the AI can stay alive, and hold its own against enemies, without me having to babysit them and revive them every single battle.Last edited by MC Fatigue; 11-25-2006, 10:09 AM.Comment

Bug free has nothing to do with it. Poor AI, and tedious gameplay do.

Re: Official Gears of War Impressions Thread
It's so funny to read that because I'm amazed at how good R6's AI is now. In the past R6 games, the AI was worthless which made the single player unplayable, but it is really good now On GRAW, I'd point my guys into a corner someone and leave them there until I killed all the bad guys since the AI was so bad.Comment

Re: Official Gears of War Impressions Thread
Thats the best way to play through the campaign, IMO. While I do agree that the teammate AI is weak, I wouldnt want them to good. That would make the game to easy. maybe they should stick to cover more often or something instead of just walking into the middle of a battle.Comment

Re: Official Gears of War Impressions Thread
The best game I've played on the 360.
I generally hate sci-fi shooting games (Halo is the most over-rated series out there) but Gears is simply amazing.
The graphics are the best I've ever seen and co-op mode is a ton of fun. I love chainsawing the enemy. The game forces you to use cover and you can't run and gun. The active reload feature is terrific. The checkpoints are well placed.
But the game still has some problems:
- Only one save allowed. I have no idea why Epic only allowed 1 save slot.
- Run, cover, and hop shouldn't all be placed on the A button. I've died several times because of this.Comment

Re: Official Gears of War Impressions Thread
Nope. I've heard that advice, and I won't buy it. It's advertised as a single player campaign. Yes, there are multiplayer options, but I don't want to use those. When I buy a game, I like to play the campaign mode single player.
I shouldn't have to be forced to play multiplayer for a single player campaign to make up for ****ty programming.
I don't buy that for a second.Comment
