First time I've seen them get a game here before release date, but something they always are is quick and cheap. Usually $3.00 cheaper than new games with free 3 day shipping and no tax. Can usually get new games for $56.99, and they have Fable 2 on there right now for $53.99. I got my limited edition for $66.99. Never had any problems with Newegg.

Initial Impressions (about 1 hour in):

Great Voice Acting
Engrossing story
Love the dog
Scenery is gorgeous and varied (a more cartoony version of Oblivion's world)

Only negative is combat seems very simplistic. Wish the control was a bit tighter, just feels lose for some reason.


Can't fully enjoy the game right now, I need Brandon Marshall to put up 6 fantasy points to win my matchup this week. Right now Denver is throwing up a goose egg on the scoreboard and Jay Cutler is injured. Thought this was a gimme, gonna have to sweat out the second half.

Question out of curiosity...how did people get theirs early? I could get mine tonight at midnight down at GameStop but I'm going to wait until tomorrow at lunch to pick it up.

someone sold me it when they shouldn't have. just a mess up on their part, but i didn't mind

My buddy told me that so far, 9 of the 10 LE's that they opened at their Gamestop was missing the codes for the Halo armor, extra weapon and the new dungeon. Not good.

According to one of our readers, today's shipment of Fable II Collector's Edition may wind up being less than it was cracked up to be, at least at some GameStop stores. After already being whittled down to near bare bones status, with special CE packaging and a limited Hobbe figurine having already been gutted, all that was left of the more limited SKU was the "Bonus DVD with a new 'Making-of' Feature" and exclusive in-game content.

That content, which requires Xbox Live, featured the following.
• “The Hall of the Dead” Dungeon
• “The Wreckager” Legendary Cutlass Weapon
• Spartan armor and energy sword

If what we heard is true, some of you may not even get that.

According to the report, GameStop corporate has already informed stores that "the majority of Fable II LEs have shipped without the DLC cards inside the case." Allegedly, that's due to two different manufacturing plants.

"Gamestop has told stores that cases WITH an orange '48 hours of live' sticker includes the content, whereas the copies of the game without said sticker do not have the card," the reader wrote. "I can vouch for the missing DLC because I have my copy in hand and it does not include it."

We've checked in with Microsoft PR to verify if this information is true or not, and, if so, how they plan on distributing the content to buyers of Fable II's Collector's Edition. Consider this rumor for now, but to be on the safe side, you might want to make sure your copy has one of those fancy orange stickers on it.

I guess it's a good thing I got it from Amazon. I didn't even know that the stores were selling the Limited edition though.

I was going to get the LE after reading the Midnight Club LA reviews and play the Motorstorm demo and deciding to not get either (both overly difficult wich makes them rentals at best) so it's good I read this and didn't go to Blockbuster to get it.

Wal-mart site said this game would be out today, but none of the local wal-marts go it.

Guess I'll just be reading the impressions wishing I was playing.

I would totally just go buy it somewhere else, but I have a gift card that I need to spend.

I got lucky, drove 40 miles to the nearest walmart (yeah I know, middle of nowhere) and they didn't have it...went across the street to the gamestop and they said I made it just in time. (was about 12:25 by then) They lectured me about preordering or some nonsense and then sold me one of many extra copies of the game. Liking it so far.

Thats crap if some people dont get that DLC. Seems like all video game companies are having issues.

How are people liking the game? Are we looking at a great game or just a very good game that loses its luster?

If it's a game that loses it's luster we won't know for a few days...

The main reason I'm getting it (Might be dumb to some) is I know it will give some length as far as play time and at worst it will be a decent game. I'm past the point of paying 60.00 anymore for a 8-10 hour gameplay game....I reserve those for rentals or used after a good price reduction.

Nothing wrong with that.

I figured someone bought the game and is almost done with the main story by now (10-12 hours later). Just curious to see if the main story is awesome and the rest sucks, if it all is awesome, or if it all sucks (the hype machine is pointing WAY WAY WAY towards everything is awesome)

I didn't play Fable 1 but a bunch of my buddies did and loved it. They've got me really curious in buying this one. Can't wait to see some impressions on it later today.

How "wide open" is this game?
