Ya, I let my friend borrow the game a week or so ago. He did the GNR quest and then made his way to Rivet City. He then stopped playing the actual story line and then did a bunch of exploring/side quests. Now he is at the level cap (no DLC yet), and he is hardly halfway through the story. I went over to his place yesterday and it pretty much looked like the Wastelands.

Thats what I do. Last night I completed a quest and then spend the next 2 hours just walking around exploring new things. That is the beauty of Fallout 3.

I only wish I could get into Oblivion as much as I was into Fallout 3. Maybe it's the weapons, maybe it is the fantasy vs future scifi, maybe it's the lack of VATS, or maybe I just need to play more of Oblivion.

I get you... theres something about Oblivion that just bores me. And I really tried to like that game too.

I'm with you guys. I played Fallout first and tried to play Oblivion but ended up setting it down to play other stuff and have yet to come back to it.

Completely agreed. I played Oblivion at a friends house a while back, played for about an hour and just couldn't get into it. Wasn't a bad game just not my cup of tea I guess. I like the weapons and combat and stuff and I'm not really interested in fantasy based games.

The worst part about Oblivion for me was how every cpu controlled character leveled up with you. So towards the end when you were really powerful you we still struggling to kill off a few rats because they had also grown in power.

I still love oblivion though, just not as much as FO3.

Oblivion is a solid game, but even when it first came out, it was kind of boring at times. Fallout 3 is simply better. Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Fallout 3 are the only 360 RPG's that I mention in the same breath, and I put Fallout 3 on the bottom of that list.

I just spent way to much time doing side quests last night. I'm trying to go through and find new areas I didn't with my first play through and new quests. So far I've found too.

I don't know how I missed them the first time, but those Fire Ant Warrriors suck....

Fire ant warriors are tough. One plus though is the nectar they drop can be used to help defend against the next one's fire.

I wouldn't say new areas really.

I did do some old quests I never did before. For instance in my my first playthrough I didn't get a chance to complete the "Wasteland Survival Guide" quest from Moira in Megaton due to some complications () so I finally completed that. New locations would be Arlington Library and Robo Factory.

Also didn't know so much about Rivet City. There's really a lot to do there that I didn't get a chance to do before.

LOL I guess Megaton wasn't too important to you the 1st time around.

Rivet City is pretty cool I bought a hotel room there.

I'm really dissapointed the White House isn't in this game. Well it's there just totally destroyed I tried searching for it last night only to find a radioactive waste.

thats what I am doing with Broken Steel. I played through the original storyline without doing much else. I finished the game at level 13. I went into Broken Steel and am basically not touching the main storyline until I Get to like mid-high 20's

When I started playing again I picked up the GOTY Edition with all the DLC.

Which expansion raises the Level Cap? Broken Steel?

I remember when I beat the game earlier I was disappointed I couldn't go back and do some of the side quests. This time I'm just doing all the side quests/exploring before I even touch any story missions. Hell I haven't even been to the GNR building yet.
