sneak up behind them and when you go to your inventory choose one of your mines or grenades. I was using the stealth boy. It was funny watching everybody running around trying to figure out what just happened.

Ive done that; the whole pick-pocket routine, and put the gernade on them but nothing happened. Ill have to try it again.

I only tried planting a Grenade while pickpocketing once and it didn't work for me...not sure why.

But i got that achievement by planting a Mine, and i remember it clearly said "Live Mine" on the right side of the screen (where it lists the person's inventory.

I don't recall if it said Live Grenade when i tried it with the grenade...

For most of the game i used to carry close to the max limit (300 pounds, since I always wore Power Armour when i got it and that gave me Strength +2), but later on like you i kept at least 30lbs free just in case i'd find something good but didn't want to sacrifice anything on me. If i was close to max capacity i'd usually just drink a few Nuka Cola's or Dirty/Purified Water bottles i was carrying, or Mines, since i never used them.

In the beginning, is there a way to not kill the Overseer? I didn't want too, but I needed the key.

You do not have to kill him in the beginning.

Is it viable to play throughout the entire game without using any weapons other than the standard 10mm pistol? Or am I going to have too hard of a time progressing without the firepower that comes with an assault rifle?

I have always been a fan of sticking to the trusty pistol, as I've never been a fan of automatic weapons. I can play with automatics, but I think I'd enjoy the game more while only using the pistol.

I'd like to stick to hunting rifle + pistol. To me, that's the best combo of guns, as it just seems more realistic (how many people own assault rifles?).

You mean how many people own Assualt Rifles after a nuclear Fallout and the world has gone mad? I'd say....everyone.

Good luck killing a Mutant Behemoth with your pistol.

75% of time, with the right tactics and leveling choices, you'll do fine with just those weapons. Some situations are just going to require more fire power, unless you want to reload a lot.

Another difficulty will be in finding enough ammo to get by only using those weapons, especially since the low damage done be the pistol is going to force you to use a lot of bullets.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Has anyone tried just using hand to hand combat from the start and just maxing that out to see how it goes? It would be cool to be able to sneak up on a super mutant and smash them to peices with your bare hands if that is even possible?

My alt uses unarmed combat. Not stealth (I did that the first time around), but it's pretty cool using the power fist or deathclaw gauntlet (once you find the schematics and get the items). It's definitely lacking in weapons (not tons of unarmed ones), but I also have heavy weapons to give myself some option for range (I just don't use them a ton).

It's cool when a shot or two takes a guy out, but if it's a tough opponent you can die easily too (like using any type of gun). It's a fun way to play for sure, just different....

Cool, i might have to try that on my next play through. Was thinking of trying to create a ninja type character (corny i know ) and see if i can max out the sneak and use cloaking devices etc and see if i can sneak up on creatures and take em out that way rather than relying so heavily on weapons.

It can definitely work. I recommend looking up the unarmed weapons online (there's a fallout wikia out there), and whenever you can get out there you can have a good weapon. Not always easy cause they can be in tough to get places, but otherwise you won't really have a decent handheld weapon.

I've also read about the dart gun/unarmed combo. Dart gun the legs, the enemy can't run, so you can just beat them down. I just made a dart gun when I got busy and stopped playing, so I haven't really tried this yet.

The dart gun leg cripple effect is good because no matter where you hit something it applies. Awesome for Yao Guai's and Deathclaws.Plus you don't immediately go into danger like using a gun since its no sound.

The sniper rifles are also good for sneak attack criticals, which usually end up in one shot kills on most enemies.

I pretty much only use 4 weapons: The Terrible Shotgun, Sydney's 10mm "Ultra" SMG, Xuanlong Chinese Assault Rifle, and Lincolns Repeater.

For armor i use the t51b Power Armor.

The reviews have the PS3 version slightly inferior to the 360's. That's disappointing. I have a PS3.
