I will probably cave in tonight and try to rent it first (how would I know I get the Halo 3 beta though?) then if not, but a used copy. I don't work tomorrow and will be around the second half of the day. Woulkd love to get some Halo 3 in!

Hey Dook,
I thought the same thing,but after buying Crackdown...I am really digging the game.
The beta was just an added bonus. But if you're still on the fence,like others have said,just rent it.

I love it EG. The Assault Rifle kicks so much butt. I love the bubble shield as well. It has the feel of Halo 1 to me and that's the best thing of it all. I loved Halo so much more than Halo 2. Did I mention I love the assault rifle?

Agreed. I'm so glad the AR is back. I hated the that the SMG was the starting weapon in Halo 2, because as soon as you spawned, you were looking for another weapon or something to duel-wield with it. The Halo 3 beta is much more balanced than Halo 2 ever was, and it's only going to improve from here with the data Bungie is gathering.

How many weapons do you have and how many maps are there? Was there lag playing online? Maps big?

16 weapons, 3 different grenades, and 4 pieces of equipment. 2 medium sized maps and one large map. I didn't experience any lag during the 8 games I played last night, except for when people quit, it does stop and go to loading screen.

How many people can be in a room at the same time?

8 for now, but 6 vs 6 BTB Training will be added at some point during the beta.

I swear, 20 minutes goes by just like that with this damned game.

I know this was posted somewhere in this thread but I rented crackdown awhile ago just to play it, how would I be able to get the Halo 3 beta?

Without being able to invert the right thumbstick this beta is unplayable for me. I didn't see anywhere to change this, anyone know if it's possible? I doubt it, but just wanna be sure.

You can invert the stick. On the menu, just press the start button and then hit right. It should be under controls.

Or, you could just set your Xbox profile to invert and it will automatically set up most games with inverted sticks.

To do that:
1.) Start up 360.
2.) Go to your Gamer profile
3.) Go to Game Defaults -> Action -> Y-Axis -> Inverted

That's stupid.... why would they do that? Or can close proximity people hear you when close and the whole team is the button? That's how it was in Halo 2 wasn't it?

It cuts down on inane chatter, I guess. People close to you, both enemy and friend, can hear you with prox voice. Just hitting any of the d-pad directions plays a weird radio sound and you can talk to the entire team.

Yeah, I love that feature, always sets my FPS, driving games, and something else to the right settings right when I pop the game in.

If you guys see me online in the next two days, it's not me. I let my friend (Coop3) borrow my 360 while I'm in surgery recovery mode. He had to send his XBOX in to be fixed and is jonesin for a Halo fix.

Another thing I just want to mention for folks who are going to rent Crackdown, GO BUY IT!!!! I bought Crackdown for the beta but realized that Crackdown is hands down one of the best games on the 360 if not THE best. I'll keep playing Crackdown long past the Halo beta.

How did the mic work on Halo 2? I don't remember.
