This has not been confirmed by any of the reports released by Bungie. However, a new screenshot acquired from Bungie’s,award winning studios, upcoming sequel to one of the most popular video series games to be ever created, show that “body targeting functionality” has been implemented in Halo 3.

We will keep you posted on this little discovery seeing as how the picture posted above is an actual screenshot and has not been photoshoped.

So if you aim an an ememy the target automatically goes to point such as head, shoudler, hand, kneecap, etc.?

Hopefully it works like that. But I see it nothing more than hitting a guy 10 times in the kneecap to kill him versus 3 times in the body and 1 in the head.

I don't know how you can say there is “body targeting functionality” from just that one picture. To me it just looks like the guy shot a rocket at that thing and took a picture before the rocket really blew up.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like something that would be in a Halo game. And i dont think that screen shows that it is ether.

There's something horrifying in that screen capture from the E3 trailer.

                    ...

                    Bungie Weekly Update

This sounds crazy. Hopefully stuff like this ends up staying in the final game.

Petar, one of our engineers, found a saved film from one of our testers playing on Sandtrap. He basically placed a RIDICULOUS number of exploding fusion cores on and inside the Elephant vehicle. They had their respawn times set to as close to “instant” as Forge allows, so that every time one exploded, it respawned. Now, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what kind of chain reaction this would cause once a single core was detonated.

What we didn’t expect was the effect it had on the Elephant physics. Now the huge metal beastie is indestructible, but it has weight and mass in the game universe, so explode it enough and you can move it. Explode it with a never-ending cascade of fusion cores and you have the most dangerous Halo item ever. A vehicle big enough to park a Scorpion a Hog and two Mongooses inside, flipping around at incredible speeds and tumbling all over the map, releasing exploding cores and the occasional vehicle like some kind of satanic piñata.

And all the while, players have the ability to play a normal game variant in this environment. It’s sheer insanity, and just a taste of what players and player-designers will be able to achieve with Forge. We literally cannot even fathom what folks will come up with using time and imagination, as well as Forge’s multiplayer nature.

Of course, this kind of madness – while it seems to work fine right now – might add some unforeseen shenanigans – so if what I just described ends up being impossible in the shipping game, then it was my fault for drawing attention to it.

More in the update on co-op and the AV calibration tool that will come with the Legendary and Limited Edition versions.

                        Re: Halo 3 Discussion

                        Some Forge comments from Frankie.

On whether or not you can really make something like a racing map using checkpoints:

"Easily. Lars made Rocket Race in about 2 minutes.

With 8 people simultaneously building a map, it's incredible - blocking all the entrances to High Ground with junk, then barricading humans in the fort for a game of Infection is about the simplest possible idea.

The possibilities with teleporters, weapons, objects, vehicles, game rules, player traits, spawn points, special custom items (a grav lift that never expires) are literally infinite."

                        link

"Correct. Or you can simply send them (Forge creations, game variants, saved films...) to your friends. But the file share is there so that the community is constantly refreshing and inventing stuff as broadly as possible.

And yes of course. Although Forge is "playable" its ultimate goal is the creation of new experiences. Save your Forge variant, play it instantly online or off with whatever game rules you choose."

Well I just put down $20 on the Limited Edition, seeing as I really want the AV calibration tool. Hopefully some folks here will get some quality OS games (no random kids) and tap into all the options and setups.

and make some sweet custom games. I was in a serious Halo 2 clan for a bit and they had some fun custom games I can try to recreate. The best was cat and mouse. Two people hop in the wraiths and the rest hop in warthogs. No shooting and the cats (wraiths) have to try and kill all the mice (people in hogs, or on foot if vehicle gets destroyed). Once 1:00 hits, wraiths can shoot.

That's the stuff I'm talking about...EGM/1up I'm sure will have variants, not to mention GameFAQs. I just want to be in a game with good people and not tea-bagging randoms when we try some of this stuff out. Most of those custom games will require "honor rules" and a spawn killing ten year old ****ing it up would make me throw my controller across the room.
