Re: Halo 3 Impressions
I'm jelous, I have gotten close a few times. Actually one was in a slayer in which I got a kill a split second after the last kill of the game.
Otherwise my only crowning achievements are a few running riots and a vehicular manslaughter.

Bungie Weekly Update - Bumper Jumper talk and Q&A
Will there ever be a Team Snipers or Team SWAT playlist in the future?
Team Snipers and Team SWAT are two of the most requested playlists and we’re definitely aware of that, in fact, there’s even a dedicated thread in Optimatch to discuss the playlist. Deduce from that what thou wilst.Any plans for weapon changes like BR spread or grenade splash damage?
The oh-so-controversial spread in the Battle Rifle is something we continue to look at, but right now the weapon is performing “by design.” For some helpful hints on maximizing your BR check here. What exactly were you [Bungie] looking for in the Valentine’s Day tournament? (edit: it was mentioned that you wanted to test something specific in this playlist in regards to tournament mechanics....this is what I am referring to) And, the AU1....from a development perspective, are the results as expected? Anything unexpected?
Nothing unexpected. Folks seemed to enjoy the rapid leveling with a sort of goal-minded feel. More vitally, it was testing boring, but useful matchmaking tools. We will be using this data and experience to increase the variety and frequency of playlist updates. And we have some news about a related new hire coming soon, too.Currently, only a handful of the pieces of Equipment are in use in matchmaking, namely the bubble shield, regenerator, trip mine and energy drain. Are there any plans to incorporate other items, or to change the mix at all for variety? Items such as the stationary turret could add some new tactics to MP. I'd personally love to see the flare added back in, as well as heavier availability of the radar jammer, especially in CTF and Assault gametypes.
Again, a new hire we have planned should be able to react faster than we can at the moment. He’ll be a mildly familiar face, too. We can’t promise miraculous changes all of a sudden – the realities of test and matchmaking mean that evolution is more likely than revolution, but you will notice more varied stuff very soon.
In the case of the Flare and the Radar Jammer, those objects had physics properties that let folks do things they shouldn't have been doing.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

March Playlist Update
The March playlist update to Halo 3 features a number of tweaks to the matchmaking experience (more on those later) and the introduction of DoubleXP Weekend playlists as well as some tweaks to the DLC playlists.
We're introducing two Weekend Hoppers DoubleXP playlists this month, with the first hopper launching Thursday, March 6 at midnight.
- Grifball, the game created by Burnie Burns of Red vs. Blue will be an unranked, weekend-long social playlist awarding DoubleXP to winning teams. We've slightly adjusted some of the rules for Grifball (unlimited round times make for unlimited griefing potential), but kept the game's core intact. You'll be able to go in with party configurations ranging from one to eight people. This playlist will be available from Thursday, March 6 at midnight until March 10 at midnight (all times Pacific Standard). I apparently forgot to mention that the Grifball hopper is being treated like a Tournament hopper -- a hopper where there will be prizes. Tournament prizes.
- Beginning March 20 at midnight will be the return of Team SWAT in the Social, DoubleXP variety. Team SWAT is an old Halo 2 gametype where players have no shields, increased body health and do not have the luxury of radar. This eight-player maximum hopper will be completely Team Slayer focused with the SWAT ruleset. This weekend playlist will be available from March 20 at midnight until March 23 at midnight (all times Pacific Standard).
The Heroic DLC hopper has underwent some revisions as well. The hopper has been split into DLC Slayer (4v4) and DLC Objective (6v6) featuring a mix of various gametypes on the DLC maps. Slayer variants include Team Snipers, Team Rockets, Team BRs, Team Duel and Team Duals. Objective variants include Multi Flag CTF, Multi Flag BR, One Flag, Assault, Neutral Bomb Assault and Team King.
A number of other changes to maps and Matchmaking were included in today's rollout:
- Fixed map exploit on The Pit
- Fixed map exploit on Construct
- Fixed map exploit on Epitaph
- Reduced Ranked Big Team Battle "Large party" size to six players and increased Big Team threshold to two*
- Fixed Spartan Laser falling through map
- Fixes to matchmaking to allow more even leveling for players
- Disabled Mixed Skill restrictions for RBTB and Team Slayer**
These changes are all live, now.
As always if you see map issues, please report them in relevant and pertinent forums with a link to a video in your File Share. We may not be responding to everything, but we absolutely are reading the forums.
*The reduction in "Large Party" size for Ranked Big Team battle does not affect the total amount of players in a given game, but rather is a change to the system and what it "considers" a big party. A few weeks ago we changed that number to seven and found that it did not decrease matching times significantly, and so we're adjusting that number. Ultimately, we want to have Ranked Big Team evolve into a playlist where you go as a large team to fight other large teams -- now we've changed the system so that Large Teams are considered parties of six or more instead of seven or more.
We've adjusted the threshold to allow teams of six to now match with teams of six, seven, and eight players, where before, an eight-player team would only match against a team of seven or eight, now an eight player will match against a six, seven or eight player team. We're still keeping some restriction because we don't want the Ranked Experience to be a bunch of "organized teams" steamrolling a collection of solo players. We hope that these two changes (along with the below change) will improve the Ranked Big Team matching experience. We'll be monitoring this closely, going forward.
**Parties are considered "Mixed Skill" when there is a spread between the highest skill and lowest skill is greater than 10 levels. In matchmaking, when your party has mixed skill the system tries to match you up with similarly mixed skill parties. Now, in Ranked Big Team and Team Slayer when your party is "Mixed" you will be able to match against parties that do not have "mixed skills" associated with them.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Halo 3 Impressions
New map apart of the Legendary pack teased this week. Could it be a Sidewinder remake? Spiritual successor?
Either way, it will be the first map to feature the Hornet and Scorpion.
Bungie Weekly Update
Legendary DLC
The already-revealed Ghost Town will be joined by a pair of other maps in Legendary, the first of which will actually be formally unveiled Tuesday– there’s one of those press releases announcing it and concrete details about the map’s release date and other sundry details. So, much to your chagrin, the wait is a few days longer.
However, below are a bunch of images of vehicles and their custom paint jobs for their appearance on next week’s map.
The Hornet is the only vehicle from this list that has seen gameplay adjustments, in addition to the cosmetic changes. If you’ve ever used the Hornet in a custom game, its missiles-n-guns variety of dominance is an overpowered spectacle to behold. Fun as that may be for the player in the Hornet, it’s a less than awesome situation for players feeling totally helpless while the sky opens up and your Halo experience is reduced to staring at death cam.
What’s different about this version of the Hornet? Its missiles have been removed and its guns have had their effectiveness reduced. It’s less of an airborne death machine and more of an aerial support vehicle now.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Halo 3 Impressions
Looks pretty sweet but I haven't had any interest lately to play halo. Its been around 2 months or better since any serious time.Comment

Re: Halo 3 Impressions
The DLC maps should be free pretty soon as they said they would be for sure before the new ones are released.
As for the pics above, a sidewinder remake would be sweet but I'm also open to a new map. The only remake I really really really want is Lockout.

Re: Halo 3 Impressions
it was in halo 2, the level suspended in air with a winter-like theme. I was a sweet level for slayer and team slayer games. It was interesting because it wasn't an I-map (meaning equally designed on both sides) but was well designed enough that every area had its advantages and disadvantages.Lux y VeritasComment

Re: Halo 3 Impressions
Had the Sniper tower with the fusion coils right behind the spawn, the green room with the Shotgun and the lift right near it. The other tower just had a Battle Rifle on it, and there was a path underneath getting to all three areas where the Sword could be found.
