The melee problem is VERY fixed.

So many times yesterday my friends and I, while playing matchmaking, would beat someone down and both of us would die at the same time. While frustrating that you'll no longer be on the winning end of the problem and it added a few more deaths to my total, it's nice to see.

Second clip, I KNEW there was something wrong with melee but until now I didn't know it was a major problem. So many rounds of team slayer where I was deprived of like 3-5 kills because of this thing.
The first time he was aiming right at his head and it took him 5 shots to take the guy down instead of only 4. Then the next time he aims at his upper chest and it only takes 4 shots to kill him, in what would normally take 7 or 8 shots when you are aiming at his body. The bullets on the BR spread too much creating a lot of random battles, where sometimes nothing will hit a guy even though you are aiming right at him.

I'm a commander, level 40 in lone wolves but looking to improve on my Team Slayer if anyone wants to get a team together.

That MLG top ten was just plain stupid, how can they do that ****. Especially Karma and his no scope on the guy going on the lift. Also, Ghost town looks good, but it's hard to say until you have walked through yourself.

that's what I thought but I wasn't sure. It's something I had noticed but never thought much of, usually attributing it to lag or something like that.

I think it mainly has to deal with lag also, but the same problem existed in Halo 2, and in the first update Bungie did tighten the bullet spread on the BR to make it more accurate. It doesn't look like they will change it for Halo 3 though.

I think I've had better plays than 10-7, 6 was amazing, and the rest were all damn good.

My best is, easily, my extermination on Narrows. Playing one-flag CTF, on defense, my teammate got the flag and went on the bottom level. I had a shotgun and a sniper rifle...shotgunned one guy, the other three red dots appear on my radar. Two come down after me, I shotgun both of them. The third went over the "man-cannon," I pulled out the sniper, turned fired one shot and the bullet went straight through his head. It was amazing.

I just really feel that #6 was the best and I also liked the double headshot with one sniper round.

I am still playing with a group of guys I know offline. We aren't nearly as highly ranked as some folks I'm sure - but a lot of that is due to not playing a lot of games. Shoot me a FR if you are interested. angrygoat30

                            Eurogamer - Retrospective: Halo 3

This pretty much sums up why I like the gameplay in Halo compared to most other shooters.

It's in the complete absence of smoke and mirrors used in orchestrating the action. This is something Halo 3 shares with both its predecessors, and to be fair, it doesn't advance its basic combat systems very far beyond the usual 'bigger, better, more badass'. But to knock it for that, when those six-year-old systems are still far in advance of its competition, is ludicrous.

Call of Duty 4 stole much of Halo 3's thunder and critical acclaim at the end of last year, and it's certainly an extremely well-crafted and overwhelmingly powerful experience. But beneath its bluster it's all show, a rudimentary assemblage of the oldest tricks in the book: heavy scripting, respawning enemies, crude event triggers. You don't have to push far past the boundaries of its tightly controlled corridor of fun to see the wizard pulling the wires.

Halo 3, on the other hand, is truly emergent, a game where terrific action storytelling occurs organically from the interaction of the player, multiple AI elements (interacting with each other), and the precarious-but-perfect balance of its weapon, vehicle and enemy designs. It's what aeronautics engineers refer to as "inherently unstable" - an aerodynamic phenomenon where a fighter jet has a natural tendency to change direction, making it harder to control, but much more agile.

Halo 3 is permanently teetering on the brink of total chaos. It never quite goes there, but that instability makes it truly, gloriously unpredictable. From the same checkpoint save it will never, ever play the same twice, and it's the only shooter in existence you can honestly say that about; that's worth a thousand moments of Call of Duty 4's scripted, cinematic intensity. Learning from that is still as vital to the future health of gaming now as it was in 2001, and the way that thinking has been rigorously scaled up in Halo 3 - in the more complex hierarchical structure of the enemy AIs, for example - is all you could ask for.

                              Good points in that article.

I always found Halo's single-player gameplay very satisfying. Especially on the harder difficulties. Yes, Legendary is brutal, but it is brutal in a much better way than CoD4 on Veteran is, which feels down right reliant on luck alot fo the time. Managing weapons and ammo and finding the right strategy is a whole lot of fun on Legendary difficulty. The gameplay feels more dynamic and definitely not as scripted.

That being said, CoD4's single-player was an exhilaration experience and I consider it one of the best in FPS gaming . . . the first few times. I can see it losing alot of its luster during multiple playthroughs given how scripted and linear the levels can be. I've played through Halo and Halo 2's single player countless times and always had a blast and never felt like every battle was the same. That can't be said about the CoD series.

Final note, I MUCH prefer CoD4's multiplayer to Halo's. Not a knock against Halo by any means, but I am not a fan of the "find the best weapon on the map" type of play style, I much more prefer CoD's "class" system and quick deaths (rather than depleting shields). I feel I always have a chance if I respawn in CoD4 and turn the corner and find myself facing an enemy, whereas in Halo, you could immediately be at a disadvantage based on the weapon your enemy may have (when you yourself have not been able to find one yet).

That's the one thing I'll always like about Halo or Unreal type games over CoD or Rainbow. I'm a bigger fan of trying to control the power weapons on the map rather than starting with whatever weapon you want. You are at a disadvantage though when you spawn with an assault rifle, but that's why I almost always play Team Hardcore because you start with battle rifles which gives you a chance against snipers.

That's what made Halo 1 so great because you always spawned with a pistol which was an equalizer against all the other power in the game.
