Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
Again, folks who arent at the endgame, stay away
SpoilerYeah I hear you about the family, but his adultery was a major part of the storyline and seemed totally unfounded when it happened. Had his family been a legitimate part of the game, I may have had an emotional feeling against or for Cole, but I just felt...slapped? So by the end when Cole got washed, I really didnt care any which way. In RDR I was pissed, I restarted like 3 times, I tried to save him because I cared. I didnt care for Cole after 15 hours and cared about John after 3. R* probably planned to release DLC for John. Everything about Cole felt forced. After you learn the character after 6 or 7 hours that's what you get out of him and then hes just ehh.
That said, the story was fantastic. So many directions, so many cases it was/is fantastic. Loose ends were tied up well even though Im not very clear on the intentions of the flame criminal form Cole's squadron. He went crazy and burned down houses? Thats it. I did like how they played the drug angle, insurance angle, new development angle and more to lead you away from the truth that Cole created the monster.
The DLC potential for this game is fantastic though. You can continue on with John Kelso, bring in a new detective, use a old detective (probably not), bring in an undercover detective going into the crime world, be a criminal, or just make up new cases with Cole (GOD PLEASE NO).
Anyway, the moral of the story, I dont like Cole Phelps. I didnt like Nico or Johnny from GTA IV either but I cared about them. I loved Louis and John Marston, Carl Johnson, Tommy Vercetti, but dammit I lost all care for Cole. He was boringSpoilerI am SO glad that I don't have to watch that ****ing ending again since you're not graded on that last level. I call it a level, because it's not a case - at all. After the funeral, I was just like, "really?"
I have no idea how, but I missed 2 newspapers, numbers 2 and 3. I didn't really miss much in the story behind them though, I guess.
I kind of started up on the street cases and revelaed hidden car locations last night. Only did 4 of them during the story. They seem to be a piece of cake so far. The queen mother bitch is going to be getting 5 stars on every case without cheating.Comment

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
SpoilerI had some of the randomness in this game. For example, one case I was searching this guys house and I find a gun on his dresser. So I examine it and Cole nonchalantly says "Eh, this is of no use". No use?! It's a ****ing gun in a murder investigation! LOL. Another example is that I'm searching a crime scene and there's a clip of money on the ground. I investigate it but it's nothing apparently. How is a random money clip not anything? Is that normal in L.A.?!Comment

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
Man I only got two stars on The Golden Butterfly. I was totally thrown off by the ending, can anyone clarify?
SpoilerSo I charged the husband with the murder, since the evidence overwhelmingly pointed to him, but I guess I was supposed to charge the pedo because the captain basically told me to before I went in with the interview? Is that why when I walked out he was so pissed off, or is that just part of the storyline?SpoilerThat's my assumption as well. Also while riding around, the partner rambled on about how the world could use one less pedophile on the street while avoiding making a little girl an orphan...and the post case notes said as much also. Seems like we were supposed to ignore the evidence and charge the wrong person lol!WOW! my ending for that case was different........Golden Butterfly spoilers
SpoilerI charged the pedo, though honestly that case felt only half investigated by the time you had to charge someone (no checking the coveralls against the coveralls used at their employers, no tests on the bloody shoe he was trying to burn, no questioning the friend about the rabbits, no search of pedo's house, etc).
Speculation after playing through White Shoe MurderSpoileri ended up having both of them at the station. i interviewed the husband first, then the perv. i pretty much had the perv dead to rights because he also worked for a company with the initials H.M. (I forgot the name he used). i was just about to arrest him.....
so i walk out of the after interviewing the perv and the husband bolts out the police station and takes off in a car. we chase him down and shoot out his tires. i arrest him and case closed.
very cool we got different endings.
can u tell me in spoilers, when in game does that case come up?
fo real, i thought i was going to fast! lol. im still in the middle of the homicide cases."on hoping there is a PSN flash sale before Valentine's Day"

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
Last night, when I was ready to quit for the night, I decided to check out this film reel thing. Looked up the map on the social club, matched where I happened to be at that moment and went looking for the one that was closest to me. Searched for at least 20 minutes and never found it.
Maybe I just unluckily chose a very hard one for my first attempt. It was in a construction sight, I was up and down ladders, crossing wooden planks. All OVER the place.....I gave up.Last edited by Mabster; 05-20-2011, 04:23 PM.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

SpoilerMy ending to that case was similar to yours though I think I may not have gotten all the evidence or just really sucked at interviewing the perv because I couldn't arrest him so I go back and charged the husband only to get chewed out by the Captain as he wanted the perv locked up.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
I know I'm mile behind everyone else here, but I finally had a chance to play the first "real" case as a detective. Got 5 Stars and all the interrogations right. Lots of fun. I got sidetracked by about 4-5 street crimesas well.Spoilerlove the on with the wacko wearing the pot on his head
I started the next case also. Interrogations are a blast. My only hope is that as you get further along the people get harder to read. It's just a case and a half though, and from impressions here it sounds like things get more complex, so I'm not too worried or knocking the game or anything. Just feels like the training wheels are still on a bit is all.
SpoilerIt just seems like everyone who's lying has the same "tell"-their eyes shift. Conversely, it seems like when people tell the truth, they stare a hole through you...lol. I'm guessing there is more to it when you start getting more advanced cases.
Also, on the street crimes...
SpoilerCan they be brought to a non-lethal end. A couple of mine were shootouts, so I assume there isn't really an alternative, but the crazy "cosmic rays" guy and the guy you chase until he grabs a hostage, is there a way you can simply arrest them?Comment

Dude...the one guy in the Golden Butterfly case was tough for me. Yall know who I'm talking bout. Some people dont give good facial signs, their hints come from body movements. Play some more, you'll find some who are easy and you'll find some who are good liars.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment
