Well that's one way to overhype and sensationalize a small portion of a game. I wonder if any of these people even gave the game an actual chance?

I mean it's one of the most engrossing sci-fi games with an incredibly deep universe (no pun intended) yet they make it sound like smut!

Wow...I had no idea NewsCorp owned IGN. You'd figure the FoxNews people would be a little more well-informed about gaming or at least bring one of their own IGN editors in as part of the panel.

I'm actually finding myself rooting for EA. I might even run out and buy TWO copies of Madden 09!

There's a new article at nytimes.com on this matter with Fox news. Just go to the website and type Mass Effect in the search engine. Apparently Ms. Lawerence has done some reasearch and now regrets what she has said. A little late to be doing research now. The article also claims gamers to be "the single most intense subculture on the internet, fiercely protective of their pastime" .....what a rep we got!

In an interview on Friday, Ms. Lawrence said that since the controversy over her remarks erupted she had watched someone play the game for about two and a half hours. “I recognize that I misspoke,” she said. “I really regret saying that, and now that I’ve seen the game and seen the sex scenes it’s kind of a joke.

“Before the show I had asked somebody about what they had heard, and they had said it’s like pornography,” she added. “But it’s not like pornography. I’ve seen episodes of ‘Lost’ that are more sexually explicit.”

I could say something about what I think of the retraction but I won't. Suffice it to say this may have helped sales for Mass Effect in some ways.

Oh and it's nice to know that video gamers have that rep!

After 30 hours of gameplay over 4 days, I finished Mass Effect last night. Thanks to everyone who recommended it! I have never played an RPG before, but I absolutely love Mass Effect. It is up there as my favorite all-time video game experiences. I have already started my second playthrough!
