Re: Mass Effect Discussion
It's to bad Geoff didn't get to speak more, because he was in the process of dishing out some ownage of epic proportions. Sarah Connor Chronicles premier had more nudity than Mass Effect.
Oh well, free advertising for the game.

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
I wish I was able to call in to that show. They obviously didn't play or even look at the game. "There's full digital nudity and you can choose what the player is going to do, if you know what I mean". That is completely untrue. What's hilarious is that the picture that they showed is the extent of the "sex" that you see in the game.Keighley Sets Mass Effect Record Straight... Or Tries To

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
Why is it that ignorant people get me so mad? I shouldn't even care but it bothers me that these people are spewing lies about a game that isn't anywhere close to that.
I guess it's my biggest fear. The media spreading lies about me and having no chance to defend myself. See how they basically pushed that guy out of the interview within 3 minutes so they could discuss is privately without interruption? Gosh, FOX News sucks."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
She deserves to be back handed by Saren himself.
Man that video ticked me off as well... so many other scarier topics out there and they pick on what is short 5 second sex scene. I also hate that they lie about it to gain support for it by people that don't know the truth.
Its also funny its coming from a network that uses sex on its programming as much as possible.Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
yup that's the first thing that should be mentioned. FOX news is the worst around, it is typically 2x less accurate in reporting facts as CNN and MSNBC and some people on that network make no bones about their agenda.
and yeah jmood I thought it was funny too that the picture they showed was essentially the scene itself. I remember hearing about the sex scene before I arrived at the part and when I got there, I was honestly surprised to see how short it was (though not disappointed, I just wanted to keep playing and not watch some awkward video game sex scene).
I thought it was funny when Keighley asked the woman if she had played Mass Effect and she was like "pffft..NO." I know it's hard to suggest that somebody play through a full game of ME before discussing it on a live news show, but that's not really fair to ME or the makers of the game. Even the moderator/interviewer said she did the best she could to prep for it, which simply included watching trailers on the game's Web site.
also amusing was when the moderator/interviewer woman said all she needed to do to watch the trailers was put in her birth date like she was surprised. That's the same thing that happens on beer/alcohol web sites as well as many pornographic ones (or so I've heard..) and nobody's making a fuss about that.
at least that one guy at the end of the clip had the sense to say that the responsibility still comes down to the parents.Lux y VeritasComment

She had this annoying smirk on her face the whole time
Then she tries citing a research article at the end, which is fine. However, at least try to answer the damning claims made against your point.

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
QFT.
It's almost impossible for people like Keighley to even get their points across when trying to bring truth to the situation because these dimwits already have their minds made up that videogames are evil.
I love how they pay no attention to when Keighley says that you have to go through a whole process of developing a relationship with the characters in order to get to sleep with them. Most of the young kids aren't even going to go through the process of developing a relationship with them anyway. I know when my 14 year old brother was playing the game he never even once talked to anyone on the ship in between missions so he didn't even get the scene at all.
If kids are really that desperate to see nudity I doubt they would sit through 15 hours of a game just to see 2 seconds of it when they can easily just go on their computer and get it in seconds.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

As someone else mentioned, too bad this wasn't a call in. I could imagine OSer after OSer calling in on this.Comment
