Re: Mass Effect Discussion
SpoilerOn my second play through and I'm noticing different speech for some characters even though I'm picking some of the same options. For example, in my first go through Ashley mentioned her grandfather problem. In my second, when I asked she just kind of shrugged it off as to change the subject. This is a minor one but the conversation changed. Its amazing how many different ways a situation can be approached or solved
Like with that guy at Feros, my first go through I shot him. The second time he ended up saying he will help rebuilt the colony and all that. And was friendly at the end. I didn't think that situation could end like that.SpoilerIf she's not talking to you as much then it means that she's not going to be available for the romance thing. The first time I went through she talked to me about alot and I picked her instead of Liara but the second time for whatever reason she was cooler towards me and Liara ended up being my only option.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
Something about the way the story played out towards the end of the game has been bothering me for awhile, maybe someone who read the book or has a better grasp of the big-picture can clarify:
SpoilerThe Vanguard Reaper who was left behind to usher in all of the other Reapers tried to awaken his brethren and bring them in through the Citadel. When he tried to do this it failed for reasons that The Reaper could not figure out on his own.
That's where I'm confused.
Why did the Reaper need Benezia and Saren to help him figure out what the problem was? If the Reapers built the Citadel and are supposed to be so much more advanced than every other race in the galaxy, why do they need the help of inferior beings to help them trouble-shoot a space station that they built??
It would be like if my home-made AM/FM radio broke down, then I went out and coerced a couple of 10-year-old children into helping me figure out why it suddenly stopped working.
It makes me wonder just how powerful the Reapers really are if their leader can't even figure out how to fix a machine that he built.
Or maybe I missed something

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
SpoilerWell, at the end when you talk to that Prothean VI it says the keepers were reprogrammed not to pay attention to the signal to open the relay and allow the other Reapers through.
So Sovereign is very unable to just approach the Citadel without getting wiped out despite its immense power. So it goes out and acquires Benezia and Saren to search out the location of the Mu Relay and gather some allies since the giant sentient ship couldn't just fly around.
Hope that made sense.Comment

Ah, thanks, that helps alleviate some of the confusion...
I still don't like the idea of an all-powerful race being at the mercy of inferior beings though, Sovereign was able to manipulate living creatures remotely, but not his own space-ship? I dont know, they just don't seem like the formidable opponent that they were built up to be in my opinion...Maybe ME2 or ME3 will change my opinion on that...

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
but see, the thing is, they are all powerful, just, with the few protheans that were left, they were able to find a way to make the keepers unresponsive to the signal by the reapers, so the reapers just needed someone to reactivate that signal by getting to citadel security and allowing them in. they are all powerful because they created everything technological, and they control and manipulate it, and all beings to their liking, just a couple of protheans left alive that's allComment

True true true....
I'm just looking at it from a role-playing perspective, if I'm Commander Shepard, right now I'm chillin with some Asari broads without a care in the world. The Reapers are trapped in dark space, their leader is dead, and they aren't smart enough to over-ride a program that was installed into their Citadel by lesser beings; yet I'm supposed to fear these things?
Really, if I'm Commander Shepard I'd be more concerned with random bandits from the Terminus Systems than the supposedly all powerful Reapers.

As mentioned at the end of the game that Saren isn't the first as there were others before him. Thats what makes them a threat as there might be other plans out there. And of course there are also the Geth.
Thing that I kind of didn't like was the mind control. I wish they didn't do it with both characters where they would switch back and forth between normal and evil. They should have just let you fight Saren without him taking his life and realizing what he was doing. Benezia was fine switching back and forth but Saren should have just stayed a evil guy the entire time.Comment
