Re: Mass Effect - Impressions
Liscences allow the guy on your ship to get his hands on more equipment. Each liscence allows him to carry equipment from a different corporation that exists in Mass Effect.Comment

Re: Mass Effect - Impressions
Oh yeah I forgot that he had talked about the licenses. I rarely bought anything when I played the first time through but I'll start getting more of them next time.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Mass Effect - Impressions
Freaking bought either a 20k credit sniper rifle from a shop, next quest I go out and loot one better.
Think I'll take down Cerberus tonight and than delve into the main storyline some more. Damn planet exploration.
Say, did anyone not realize that important locations were list on there maps when you're exploring planets? I sure didn't and was driving around like an idiot.Comment

Re: Mass Effect - Impressions
Yuh, after the first planet I landed on something made look at the map and low and behold all important locations were marked, even one where the Geth ambushed me >_<.
SpoilerDoes every character, no matter what background, get the quest with the guy from the gang your character once ran with? I truly enjoyed the ending I had for that one going Renegade.Comment

Re: Mass Effect - Impressions
Well, my character was an Earthborn. It was on my first return to the Citadel right when I took the transit to Chora's Den or maybe I walked there from the Market. The guy was standing there and gave me the quest.Comment

Re: Mass Effect - Impressions
I'm about 23 hours into the game and loving it. I'm up to level 35 or so, I think with my Vanguard and I'm glad I chose that class. I love being able to use "throw" and "lift" before firing some shots into the baddies.
I'm mainly focusing on the main quest now, but have done a decent amount of side-quests and some random exploration of planets. The Earth's moon was cool to travel to. I'm going to wrap up the main quest and start over with a different character. On my 2nd run through, I'm going to get into real details and do all the side quests. The main story is so good that I'm anxious to play it out on my first run through.
As far as micro-managing, you don't really need to. Just know that some fights will be tougher if you're not using the correct ammo, armor, upgrades, etc. It really helps, for example, to make sure you're using ammo that is good against organic beings when fighting organic beings. If you're using that same type of ammo against sythetics, it won't be as effective.Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
Ok I figured I'd post now that I have the game. I originally said "eh" and thought it would be a rental due to thinking it wasn't long enough and the shooter/rpg elements weren't all that.
Then I played it and the next day I bought it. It's not going to be a very short game for me. I love the exploring and system as a whole. I'm still getting used to the menu system etc.
So since I dismissed the game I thought I would come and say I was wrong. I thoroughly enjoy it and can't wait to play some more.Joshua:
