Re: Mass Effect Discussion
I finished the book - great read. I advise anyone that likes this game to go pick it up.
I bought the game but just opened it and haven't played it yet. Been really busy with life and I won't be able to get my hands on a controller to play Mass Effect until the first week of December. I want to make sure I can play without the interruptions and responsibilities I have right now.
So a question about the book, for those that read it, and it's relation to the game.
SpoilerIs Saren the only character present in the book that shows up in the video game? I don't want to know the names of which characters show up. I'm just interested in knowing if we'll see some familiar names."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

There's one other person mentioned, and it's been mentioned in this thread all ready. Not really a spoiler (you see this character from the beginning), but I won't mention it until you play.I finished the book - great read. I advise anyone that likes this game to go pick it up.

The book is a true prequel...there's not a lot of characters intertwined and it's referred to a little but not in any big way (the plot doesn't hinge on the book, for instance). The book is more just a good way to get into the Mass Effect world IMO.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
Speaking of... that assignment is still showing up for my female character even though I already met him and signed the autograph (and have left the Citadel a while ago). Is there something else I need to do with him to complete that? It doesn't have any discernible goals or a location that I'm supposed to visit showing, so it's just.. there.. glitch? Where would I meet him? He did ask me to meet him again, but I can't remember where he was or where he wanted me to meet him.
EDIT: And being an evil bastard is FUN on this game. The dialogue had me and my friend laughing our asses off yesterday. "Shooting people isn't always the answer" made me lose it. I love being a douche to the council and my superiors.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
SpoilerIf you go back and talk to him he'll ask you to pose for a picture and the third time you go back (the aforementioned fun) he asks you to sign him on as a Spectre. I responded with an intimidate option that involved pushing him up against the wall, putting a gun in his face, and saying, "I'm the bad guy. You have to stop me from killing you!"
From there on he acts dejected and loses faith in you as a hero.Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
No spoilers, but my 2nd time through I love being evil...basically replying "That's Awesome" when people expect you to go "OMG That's so bad" gets such a cool response.Speaking of... that assignment is still showing up for my female character even though I already met him and signed the autograph (and have left the Citadel a while ago). I enjoyed being good though too, and I'm naturally not that evil so I prefer to play a more real game first, and become evil later (did the same thing in KOTOR).Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
Where is he though? I forgot where he was when I first saw him and I didn't run into him as my male character (probably because I'm an evil, vengeful man with no eyebrows and he's not interested in sexing me up).SpoilerIf you go back and talk to him he'll ask you to pose for a picture and the third time you go back (the aforementioned fun) he asks you to sign him on as a Spectre. The upper market against the wall in front of the stairs. You don't have to be a female character to have him talk to you.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
Thanks. And yeah, I figured that I didn't have to be female, but I hadn't run into him with my male, so I couldn't remember where he was. My guy is pretty creepy-looking though... he's all gaunt, unshaven, has a scar over his eye, and no eyebrows... And he likes shooting things.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
So, where do you guys think your party members fall along the Paragon/Renegade axis? I think Garus is the most outright Renegade.Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
I think Ashly is kinda Renegade. She HATES the aliens and thinks they shouldn't be trusted, etc.
The other two chicks are Paragon, Wrexx is a Paragon too I think.PSN: JISTIC_OS

Yeah, Wrex seems like he might be. I'm hoping for a good side quest from him like the twisted one from Garus.Comment
