Not I...although I pursued him romantically with my female Shepherd. Definitely wished I had gone with the smurf.

I felt bad since I didn't use him and I took him with me to one of the side planets then after seeing him fight I remembered why I never used him.

I'm actually primarily using him and Garrus in my newest career because it gives me the best team balance out of who I have so far (haven't done the Liara mission yet). But yeah, I basically just use him as super-decryption man -- just max him out there so I can open all the crates and whatnot early in the game. I'm an Infiltrator in that career, so his biotic skills are helpful.

EDIT: So after you beat the game you can go back through with all of your abilities? What's the deal there?

I used Kaiden until I got the Lara. Now I mostly use her and Ashly.

I used Ash and Liara with my Infiltrator too...

and yeah, I think when you create a new career you need to chose "use an existing ID" or something like that....then you continue at that level with all items, etc.

That's sweet -- it gives me yet another reason to play through this game several times. I love when games give that option, especially when having the extra abilities can affect how the story goes. I was wondering about all those greyed-out charm/intimidate options early in the game -- there's no way to be that high that early, so I figured there had to be some way to come back with more XP. Thanks for the info.

Only bad part about GameFly is not getting manuals... I feel like I miss something every time.

WOW, how long ios MA, I need to pick the up already.

It's as long as you want it to be...I've clocked about 30hrs and I've only done four of the main missions (and only about 15 of the 60 side-quests)...And I don't plan on beating the game anytime soon...

Ok I figured I'd post now that I have the game. I originally said "eh" and thought it would be a rental due to thinking it wasn't long enough and the shooter/rpg elements weren't all that.

Then I played it and the next day I bought it. It's not going to be a very short game for me. I love the exploring and system as a whole. I'm still getting used to the menu system etc.

So since I dismissed the game I thought I would come and say I was wrong. I thoroughly enjoy it and can't wait to play some more.

I also had reservations about the game prior to release, I was afraid it would be a watered down RPG in an attempt to attract those who mostly play shooters. I'm glad I was wrong about it's depth...

The character developement in this game out-classes that of any RPG I've ever played (save Final Fantasy 6), the dialogue system is unmatched, and the story is first-rate.

I'm tempted to give this game the nod over Oblivion because Mass Effect's combat system (squad-based AI that is smart enough to use the correct powers in the appropriate situations) is so much more ambitious than Oblivions.

I've played other RPG's that have real-time combat like Star Ocean and Final Fantasy 12, but the combat in Star Ocean mostly consisted of hack&slash so the AI never really had to make any decisions during combat that would "wow" you, and in FF12 your party-members don't "think" on their own, they just follow whatever program you set for them; the fact that your party members can "think" for themselves puts Mass Effect on a whole 'nother level.

Put in 50+ hours my first play through, just beat it earlier today, very very satisfying and I can't wait for DLC and sequels. Started a new char named after my wife but is total opposite, a dark, ruthless renegade soldier. It's great seeing the game from a different perspective.

lol who knew everyone disliked Kaidan? I'm on my first run through 17 hours in, pretty much only Ashley and Tali, except for party sidequests, then i'll bring that person along with Ashley.

so, for the people that know how to use the spoiler feature, could somebody help me. I can't seem to get past the UNC Hostage mission on freighter in the Farinata System of the Hades Gamma cluster. I've died multiple times and each time, it's been almost instantaneous. I suppose I'm just not a high enough level yet, but I'd like some suggestions. thanks.
