Re: Mass Effect Discussion
For $5, I don't think it will be anywhere near the main story planets, but it should be a bit more compelling than the side missions.Great! 400 isn't bad at all for 90ish minutes of fun. I wonder if it's sorta like one of the primary game quests (like how looking for Benezia ended up being quite a bit of stuff). I doubt that was only 90 minutes, but I just hope/wonder if there are multiple things and a cool storyline.
I also wonder how we access it within the game...I forget if I can just keep playing my original Shepard or if I have to restart a new game with her, keeping the same stats, etc. I'm halfway through with a evil guy, but I'd like to be my "real" Shepard without having to play through the beginning right now.
There's a DLC section in the main menu, so we will probably just click that and have the option to choose an existing Shepard.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
That's cool...and yeah, won't be like a main story planet, but I think my intention was more than a side mission that was "go to one planet, find the base, kill". I just hope they have us moving around a bit, looking for stuff, whatever.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

A couple of answers for you (without trying to spoil any upcoming fun).
The DLC will fit into an existing game (or will be available if you start a new game) and will appear as a new Galaxy Map location.
It takes place during the game play, not "after the game".
March 10 is for all regions afaik (if I hear different I will let everyone know). There will be localized subtitles, but not VO.
Bring Down the Sky is only available through Xbox Live. Sign up for an Xbox Live account and learn more about how to get Live Points for ME DLC.
And yes, this is the FIRST Mass Effect DLC, there will be more to come in the future (but we aren't talking about that just yet).Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
just started my second play through.
I chose a colonist--ruthless Adept and will be going renegade style this run through. My first time I was an earthborh-sole survivor Vanguard. Though I was a vanguard the first time, I didn't really use my biotic powers until like 1/3 a way through the game.
Using throw and warp from the beginning is really cool and I can't wait until I get lift. I don't know if I'll do all the side missions the second time through, but I do want to find all the Spectre gear I can.Lux y VeritasComment

The the expansion DLC is going to be available starting next week, I take it? I saw ads for it on the Live main page as if it were available already, but it's not showing on XBL.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
I know I'm late to the party, but I finally picked up this game today.
I'm very surprised at how easily I have gotten hooked to it. The first KOTOR game took me a long time to really get into(I loved it when I finally did). But Mass Effect was immediately interesting to me, well, at least once you get back to the Citadel. The combat is fun, the RPG equipment/leveling up element are deep enough to be intersting, but manage to keep from being completely overwhelming, a very nice balance.
That's all, I'm almost 3 hours in, just became a Spectre, looking forward to the rest of the game.Comment

Bang for its buck, this might be the best console game I've ever played and was easily worth the price of the 360. It was just a fantastic experience in every way. Other than GTA, I've never binge-gamed this much.
I was impressed with combat- I thought it would stink but it was a hell of a lot of fun. They really established a good baseline for this series to really take off with the next iteration of the game. IMHO, Bioware's RPGs blow the JRPGs out of the water, but that's just me
I still haven't played more than 2 hours of Final Fantasy X, which was the last time I've touched that series. I really think Bioware has taken the lead in RPG development. I was never so engrossed in a story as I was with Mass Effect.

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
I was slightly hesitent about this game because of the combat. I think the KOTOR(speaking of the original, much to my regret I never took the time to get the sequal) combat was a very nice take on the traditional JRPG turn-based model. I liked the way that combat system worked, the FPS fighting of Oblivion never caught on for me. Thankfully, the Mass Effect combat is well done. It's really an amazing experience to have great RPG elements(conversation, character development, equipment upgrades, ability upgrades, etc...) mixed in with a good third person shooter combat engine. The combat is far from perfect, it feels a bit stiff and the classic RPG limitations of not being able to jump still exist, but for a third person shooter engine inside of an RPG, it is pretty remarkable what they did.I can't wait for the DLC to become available.

Ok, enough typing, time to go dive back into the game
Edit: One more thing, FF7 remains as the greatest RPG of all time in my book, I don't know if I could play through a full traditionaly JRPG now, but that game was amazing when it came out.Last edited by CM1847; 02-09-2008, 02:48 PM.Comment

Re: Mass Effect Discussion
That's good for Microsoft, I'm not one of those guys who care if an exclusive goes to other consoles though. I just hope that EA doesn't rush them and leaves them alone.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters.
