    Re: Mass Effect Discussion

I'm glad that despite a lot of praise for the game (well-deserved, I should add) they can still find room for improvement. I didn't like the barren planets and going around with the Mako, it was dull and boring even if there was a cool sidequest there. Hunting around for debris and artifacts was more of a chore then it was adventure.

Would be nice to see some more planets with settlements on there, that even if they don't fit into the main story have a couple sidequests you can complete on it. More interesting than barren wasteland.

      QUESTION:

if I beat the game, is the downloadable content useless?
It's not clear, but I think you have to be less than 3/4 through the main story or something. I have no game saves that are significantly far back (and don't think I'd want to use them anyway) so I don't want to waste $ if I can play w/ my character.

Yes it's useless, you'll have to start the game over and save when you're in the normandy to be able to use the new content.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Well I've wanted to play it again as a completely diff character, but I don't want to eff w/ my original one since I'd want to use it for ME2

I'm going start this game on insane mode soon... should I start with a new character or continue on with my level 50ish guy. I want the level 60 achievement so I will probably not restart but was wondering what difference if any there would be between the two on insane mode.

Well just passed it on hardcore as my second play through. I'll do it on insane soon... Saren wasn't as hard on hardcore for me as he was on normal; maybe because I used a different strategy.

Either way great game. Best ending in a video game ever...

What class do you play as? I just picked up this game the other day and haven't had a chance to get into it yet.

I'm playing through on insane right now using the character I created for my first play-through. I used a renegade chick soldier for my hardcore play-through. Anyway, I'm a little afraid to use a new character on insane but it might not be so bad. Aren't the hit-points for enemies contingent on the level of your character, to a degree? It would probably be a little harder because the weapons you start out with aren't as powerful as the ones your level 50 character starts with.

Soldier both play throughs. Some people might say it's boring but I like it. I might use the biotech stuff another time.

Yeah, the hit points should change depending on your XP. Yeah I forgot about the weapons though. That probably makes a difference and makes it harder.

How far are you in insane? Fight any bosses yet?

hang on, how do I start w/ a new character while preserving my original one?? is that possible - because that's the one i want for ME2 not the new experimental one.

My main gripe w/ the planets is that they are all rocky mountains! some should be totally flat and have structures here and there - and not that same silly worm on every one lol.

At the same point though, did the guys on the ME forum expect too much? Do we expect too much? I doubt we'll ever get what we want via DLC, it's probably too time consuming for them to give us everything for what we end up paying.
It helps that I'm out a 360 right now as I would have bought this as soon as it became available. Right now though I'm also way into the show and probably won't get it for a little while.

That is how all the side missions should have been.
