    Re: Mass Effect Discussion

So I'm eyeing the Spectre weaponry right now, and judging from the comments is it safe to say that these weapons are over-powered?

If so, I won't even use them until I bump up to the harder difficulty settings on my next playthrough...

Get close enough to use the cannon on them. You can also use the Makos jump-jets to hop over their missles. And don't forget that you can retreat at any time if you take too much damage, that way you can heal your vehicle once you're at a safe distance.

Thanks man, if I retreat though, do the Geth regain all of their strength also? The biggest issue I think I'm having is trying to keep the camera in a position to strike. I have to get used to it I guess.

Can someone refresh me on the d-pad commands? I seem to have misplaced the manual and forgot what they are.

            Up: go to
            Left: follow
            down: hold position?
            right: ???

I don't think their health regenerates, and if it does I've never noticed it because that's how I've always fought those types of Geth. I roll up and hit them with the cannon and drive around firing the machine-gun until I can use the cannon again.

And if the Mako took too much damage I'd just drive far enough away to repair it, then I'd go back to where they were to finish them off...

If you want to be real slick, bring someone with the Overload ability, then hop out of the Mako just long enough to disable their shields first, then they'll die easier.

I'm 25 hours in, and I can tell I still have a lot left to do.
I just beat the game as a goody two-shoes quickly (16 hours) without doing many side quests. Now I'm going to start up the game again and do it the way I really feel i.e. badass I can't wait to get restarted.

I'll say this again, this is the best game I've ever played. This game takes RPGs to a whole new level. After playing KotOR, I thought it'd be difficult for Bioware to achieve as much success with an original IP. They soundly proved me wrong. Yes, there were some small annoyances along the way with teammate AI, but the shooting in the game was FAR better than I ever imagined. The cover system was fine and my teammates used their skills pretty effectively. This fine gaming mechanic was just the icing on the cake of a fantastic gaming experience. This felt like a movie. The music was fantastic and each decision seemed immense. Bravo Bioware! Maybe its because the two leaders of Bioware are MDs, but I like how they think.

I get this one guy asking me about getting his wife's body returned home and at the same time I should be talking to the Citadel council about Saren.

It's the urgency they put on the main story. They make it sound like you have 24 hours to stop Saren, and 30 minutes of that was wasted at the Council. I almost wish they would have put in an intermission period to allow for the breathing room to do sidequests without ruining the role play. There is actually one small line dedicated to the idea. The UNC mission leader says "your main mission is still to get Saren, but you're the only one who can do this" during one of the side missions. It's a little silly small thing, but I understand. It's a role play thing, lol.

Yeah, at least in this game the known galaxy is enormous, so its a reasonable roleplaying scenario for him to take a couple of weeks(In my case, months- given the number of side quests I've done- ) to bring his schemes to fruition.
