    Re: Mass Effect Discussion

I just got Bring It Down and it's really good so far.

I just finished it. I hope the next downloadable quests are like that. I got some really nice armor at the end of it.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

That's exactly what happened to me when I started on insanity! I changed it back to insanity before I even moved my character on Eden Prime. That would just suck if I don't get the achievement for it. When I finish Ilos, I'll let you know whether I get it or not.

I think I read on Gamefaqs that as long as you switch the difficulty before you leave Eden Prime you should get the achievement.

To follow up on this (and I still haven't had a chance to finish the game) but I did find this on Bioware's Mass Effect FAQ's:

1.15: Getting the Hardcore & Insanity Achievements: (Back to Top)

To ensure you get the "Hard Core" and "Insanity" achievements:

            * Before you finish Eden Prime, check the game settings and confirm that the difficulty setting says "Hard Core" (Or "Insanity" if you have unlocked it). It is a good practice to confirm that the difficulty setting has been changed by going back into the game settings menu and double-checking that the changes were applied properly.
            * Don't change your difficulty level after you set it to hard core.

If you started a playthrough, and your difficulty level was "Hardcore" or "Insanity" before you left Eden Prime, and you did not change your difficulty level you will receive the achievement.
Looks like I should be okay.

Feros is easily the worst planet in the game. I just finished it for the third time and each time I go through it I hate it more and more. From the general uglyness to the weird *** creepers there is nothing redeeming about it at all.

I liked Feros, it just felt creepy and I liked that. I wish there were more planets that had a bigger role. I thought that of the central story worlds, most of them were very good, however I really do wish that there was more going on like an actual port setting with little side quest missions in them, Noveria kind of does that, but the others do not on as big of a scale.

this may be considered a spoiler, but here goes:

I also hate how you have no choice really in the end of the planet. It looks like originally you would have, but they took it out for some reason or didn't follow through on it.

Noveria was probably my favorite world, with the Artemis Tau one with Liara being the least favorite.

Artemis Tau was pretty bad too. Vermire was definitely my favorite one it felt like an action movie at the end.

I finished insanity today and got the achievement. No issues there. Also got the Turian and Krogan allies achievements. I plan on getting all of them! I'm going to drop the difficulty to normal though and just roll through everything. The toughest achievements, in my opinion, will be the level 60 character and Asari ally ones. They say to get the Asari one, you can only do as little as possible to get off the Citadel and go straight to Artimis Tau to get Liara. Then with her go back and do everything else.

The level 60 one is going to be easy for me. With my second character I'm already almost at 50 and it's my first playthrough and I'm just about to do Vermire.

I don't know, man. I started insanity with a character that was already level 50 and I only got to 59. You need something like 100,000 experience points to get from 59 to 60 and I still needed like 70,000 when I was done with Ilos. Grant it, I messed up on getting some experience because I closed off the Citadel before resolving some things. That would have helped. I'm going to try again with my woman that will start at a level 52 and see if I can get there. There are a couple of side quests I saw on ME wiki that I had no idea existed too.

I got the Asari one the first time through. I was a soldier, and Liara being the really powerful biotic helped me out a lot, especially while I was still new to the game.

This might be a stupid question but what is your "decryption" level and how to do improve it? I'm trying to do one of the side missions by destroying geth outposts but to finish it off for good I can't because of my decryption level. I'm a level 25 Soldier I believe.

It's a skill that you have to have. I know if you have an engineer you can raise it but I don't know what other classes have it.
