His version of American Woman may be one of the worst covers ever, of any song.

I like Lenny, but many of his songs have a been there done that kind of feel to them.

You just know they are saving them. They have to be. Either that or the GH series is going to have some.

I'd play The Joker, that's about it.

Well, I honestly don't know who's in the minority here. I prefer it over the original, but they are both two different styles.

I like Lenny, but many of his songs have a been there done that kind of feel to them.
No doubt, but since his songs will make an appearance on the game, I would have preferred his better stuff.

I don't really know if they fall into the same category, but I would prefer seeing some Petty over Kravitz. I just don't know how well his stuff would translate into Rock Band.

And LOL at Roy Orbison. Nothing against him, but like the Beatles, I just feel like sometimes music can be too outdated for Rock Band, especially when you want to feel like you're performing in-concert. That's the only reason I took so long to buy Fortunate Son. It's a terrific song, but because it's not re-mastered or anything, it still has a very outdated feel to it that just makes you feel like you're playing the album track (which you essentially are). Some other songs translate well into the game, though. IMO Orbison isn't in the correct generation to help with that concert ambiance.

I disagree with anything being outdated. It's great that they can give us something like Roy Orbison. It may not be challenging but it'll still be fun.

Maybe a few kids will come to appreciate music like that.

Besides, they'll likely use Orbison's 1987 re-master tracks. So it probably won't feel 'outdated' as you put it.

              Re: Rock Band 2

Aside from your last line, I'm not sure if you completely understood what I meant. I just think that it has something to do with, well, with me feeling like I'm just listening to an old record of the past.

Take, for example, Livin' On a Prayer, or Alive. There is something about those songs that, when you're playing, there is a much grander feel than just listening to the song. I think that one of my biggest issues with GH 3 was that there was something that differentiated it from the first two where there were some songs where I just didn't feel like the things that I strummed truly made the notes play, if that makes sense. I've come to the conclusion that it's either the graphical change, or it's the fact that most all songs were master tracks. I still don't know which it was, but one where I really didn't get the feel was with Paint it Black, a rather old song.

Again, it may not make sense with what I'm saying, but I have that same issue playing Fortunate Son. Thankfully I love the song, but again, something about hearing things as if I'm just playing it on stereo and not as much like I'm playing the stuff in front of fans (haha I love that feel in some songs) just makes it not as purchase-worthy, much like how I feel with The Beatles. Maybe it's the lack of a strong bass, I really don't know.

Anyway, I hope that makes sense. I'm glad it came out, because I know a lot of people will like it... but again, unless they decide to use the re-mastered tracks, I don't know how much it can do to make me want to buy any of the songs.

                I see what you're saying.

I guess I don't let it affect me as much though. If I like the song, I'm buying it. I don't particularly worry about how it plays.

It's weird that you say that about Fortunate Son considering that's not a master track so it should be of better playing quality (although obviously not sound quality as the vocals aren't as good).

And just a question: If they were to release the 1987 re-masters, would you buy a song?

I'd be excited for Are You Gonna Go My Way and The Joker if I didn't already have them in GHWT. Guess I might buy The Joker for the sake of vocals because they suck in GHWT though I guess the bass in RB will suck in comparison so it balances out.

Fortunate Son still has that outdated feel, particularly in the vocals (maybe that's where I'm feeling it). I don't know if I'd buy these songs only because I just may not want to as is, but yes, I'd have a much better chance at buying a song if it better replicates a concert feel over just listening to an album version and happening to hit notes at the same time, if that makes sense. There are some songs where I feel that when I'm strumming, I'm making those notes. I didn't really feel that in GH 3, and there are some songs on this game where I have the same feel.

Question for you guys... just got the game for the kids (and me)....

Do you just keep changing batteries in the Guitar and Drums? Is there a better solution?

I'd say "get the wired" as the above poster...but in my opinion the RB2 instruments are better than the RB1 so I don't recommend using the original RB instruments.

So yeah, basically you have to just keep changing the batteries. It sucks.

Spend a few extra bucks on some good rechargeable batteries. It will be worth it in the long run. The drums are pretty easy on batteries...I've had them for about three months and I just recently switched out the originals.
