Probably a silly question, but how do you gold star a song?

Also, I see an achievement for acing an expert solo using only the solo buttons. What are the solo buttons? Are they on Rock Band guitars?

To gold star a song you have to play on expert and score a lot of points. Easy songs you pretty much have to get 100%, some you're allowed to miss a few notes, just use your multiplier at good times to get good scores.

yeah the solo buttons are only on the RB guitars. They are buttons near the bottom of the fret board that you don't have to strum, just press.

Yes, they are higher up the neck therefore they are closer together. They work in the sense that during solos, the HO/PO's that you pull off require zero strumming whatsoever, and you simply need to time the button-pressing correctly.

I never use them, but I did to get the trophy.

Not a silly question at all. I was going to ask the same thing soon enough but you beat me to it.

Thanks for the answer btw. So it is possible then to gold star an easy song?

But you did for the trophy? Which song? I'm terrible at using those buttons.

When I say easy song, I mean a song that is not difficult, not the easy difficulty. You have to play it on Expert to get the gold star, but to get a gold star on a easier song you pretty much need to get 100% on that song and use your energy power at times when you'll build up the most points.

I got the trophy on the solo for the Red Hot Chili Pepper song (Give it Away?) on RB2, it has a real easy solo even on Expert so using the solo buttons isn't so bad.

I knew what you meant. Would be great though if I could get it on easy LMAO. I've been playing this game like the old guitar hero games where you just go down the setlist and play the songs in order, (on expert) trying to get better. I saw a few songs that were super easy on expert. One was the go-go's song I think.

I'll try that one. I'm getting close to it on the setlist anyway.

I honestly can't remember, but I do think it was a song with a solo in the intro. I think it was Carry On Wayward Son.

Give it Away has a ridiculously short and easy solo...I would do that one.

Yeah, now I remember that I did it on "Dirty Little Secret" by The All-American Rejects. I guess I didn't do it with a song that had a solo at the beginning.

It's that "I'm Blue" song by Eiffel 65. Definitely not one that I'm looking at picking up.

Actually the best way to gold star a song is Testify on vocals. Anyone can do that. Can leave the mic by a loud fan and get it.

I got the solo achievement on Bad Reputation.

Bleed by Meshuggah and Turnpike Ghost by Steel Train are up on RBN. (Steel Train doesn't appear to be very famous but they've opened for/performed with a lot of bands that are.)
