Re: Dragon Age 2
I started a trial new game just to see how Nightmare difficulty was, goooood grief it was hard. Especially the part where you meet the templar and the warrior chick (non spoilers, in the demo) and there's a horde of darkspawn. Party was killed pretty fast. Can't wait to get into this.PS: You guys are great.

Re: Dragon Age 2
OMG the city is freaking HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I am so lost right now LOL. All I know is the following:
Spoiler
Damn uncle has a gambling habit, lost all my family money, along with the estate, had to work for some elf chick for a year. Now I am broke as hell, living in a shack on the bad side of town and need 50 soverign for I can get into the Deep Roads. Everybody in town treats me like crap because we are outsiders and poor. So my party has to get on their grind for I can get into the deep roads. But this city is HUGE, so many people to talk to, so many shops and overall so much stuff LOL.

Re: Dragon Age 2
Even though I've been playing RPG's since they been making them, unlike a lot of old school players, I love having a voiced protagonist, and think the game is exponentially better because of it.
Hawke's full integration into the narrative makes the story and other characters come alive, IMO.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: Dragon Age 2
Loving it so far. A 2 handed rogue is a lot of fun to play with thanks to the new combat especially since in Origins I stuck exclusively to a mage. Felt a little weird at first not sitting back and using spells, but I'm loving being able to just zoom between enemies with abilities like backstab and rush.
Also just got both of the mages in my party Crushing Prison, so I'm right back at home being able to wipe out some of the tougher enemies with no problem.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

IMO DA:O is still the better game, the recycled dungeons are killing the immersion for me.Oklahoma State Cowboys 2011 Big XII Champions, 2012 Fiesta Bowl Champions

Re: Dragon Age 2
I know most of you aren't far in the game yet, but is it really that much different than DA:O? I loved the old school RPG style of the first, and although the graphics are much better in DA2, I am hearing that it isn't as "open" as the first, and the combat has drastically changed.
Any opinions so far?Comment

Re: Dragon Age 2
Pretty much all of the changes from DA:O removed old-school RPG elements. This is a good game and it still resembles an old-school RPG more than most so you should probably still play it as beggars can't be choosers. It's a disappointment to me only because it's Dragon Age 2, it will be a commercial success, and, now, any future installments will be in this new style.
Combat is very different as most fights come in waves. In DA:O, you could pause at the start of the fight, size up what you're up against, and plan accordingly. It doesn't matter as much in DA2 because you may see 5 warriors, 3 archers, and a mage at the start of a battle, but they'll be dead in 5 seconds and you'll be fighting something else. DA:O would at least attempt to make it seem like you and the enemy are mere mortals with the same potential skills and abilities, but that's not the case anymore. I think it looks tacky when my archer, who has several arrows sticking out of him, shoots some bandit a single time causing him to explode in gibs while another bandit drops out of the sky on a rope to take his place. It would be nice if they could find a way to have faster paced combat without the waves of fragile enemies.Last edited by Defel; 03-09-2011, 07:24 PM. Re: Dragon Age 2
OMG
Spoiler
I just found Anders.......He is totally bad arse now. I am so glad I let him live in the 1st game. He is about 4 times as powerful as he was in the past. And he still talks about his cat sir pounce a lot.
Now I have 3 mages in my party.... Anders by FAR is the most powerful mage in the game that I have come across so far. This dude be bringing the pain.
I don't know why people say this game isn't as open world as the last game. IMO it is even more open world because you have daytime missions and night time missions. And you can go anywhere you want to go.
Spoiler
Also I came across the Dalish clan elf who was killed by the werewolf, daughter. She was all grown up, her and her team assassin's had cornered the human who was once a werewolf and was trying to kill him. I however talked her out of it.
But so far the best conversations happen between the following:
Spoiler
Varic and Bethany
Varic and the templar's wife
Anders and the templar's wife.
The bloodmage Elf reminds me of Sandal.
I came across Sandal in the city, he doesn't talk this time around.
