    Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

I'm probably in the very tiny minority of players who didn't think Skyrim was the greatest thing since sliced bread and this game corrects almost every issue I had with that game. Hated Skyrim's combat with a passion and this game's is almost too good to be true. Thought the colour palette in Skyrim was a bit drab, this one is almost too colourful but I'd rather that than the alternative. And the voice acting was nothing to write home about in Skyrim, it's incrementally better in KOA.

I don't want to bash Skyrim too much because outside of the combat, my issues were minor. But when it comes to RPG's, I'm definitely a bigger fan of games like this, Fable and Zelda where the combat/control becomes second nature after a little bit. I don't understand why some RPG's still make PLAYING the game a chore. A story only goes so far.

This game should be in many people's libraries.

Myself I came to the realization that I enjoy the darker world of Skyrim, though like I the combat of Amalur. Though Amalur is kinda weak in it's story line so fo,r now I am back to Skyrim 24/7. Could be that I am so used to Skyrim and it's nuances that Amalur didn't offer enough for me to completely switch. Either way as others have stated, I have spent my money for an American, up and coming company, so all in all is good. I don't doubt that when Skyrim where's out it's welcome, I will entertain Amalur once again.

Definitely glad I started over on Hard. It may have just been the starting zone, but you could just mash your way through fights without trouble on Normal. It's not a huge step up, but at least blocking, dodging, and parrying are more essential now.

Loving this game. It reminds me of an offline World of Warcraft with the combat of GOW and the loot system of Diablo. So glad I decided to buy this...

This is one of the rare games that gets me to put in a little time before going to work. With sports games, I despise the term "fun factor", because it almost always means that the game is dumbed down or that the developer is holding the player's hand. With this game though, fun factor is a positive, it's simply a blast to play.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

You guys have definitely sold me on this game. This will be the next one I pick up. I still have Arkham City to play but haven't felt the need to start it yet.

I gave the demo a try but didn't really feel it. I was tired though and it was late so I'll have to give it another try. One thing I didn't like was the camera. Is that any different in the retail version?

The camera is one of my few quibbles with this game. It's not great when compared to games like the Fable series and Zelda games.

I think putting out the demo they did actually did them a disservice. Once you get past the tutorial/demo, the game really takes off. I could see how people get turned away from the game based on only playing the demo.

Regardless, I've played about 10hrs of this game so far and it's honestly felt like half that time. My brother asked me while I was playing earlier today just before I saved it before work, how much I've played and I said about 4-5 hours. On the save screen it said Time Played: 9:47:something and I was a little surprised.

I read the side quests were supposed to be a down point but I'm enjoying all of them....

Pretty much loving the game overall....

Yes the time just melts away. I just put in 4 hours and it felt like 1 hour.

The NPC's, IMO, make the side quests much more enjoyable. Whether it's the shop keepers, quest givers, temporary companions, human enemies, they have personality and energy, something that has been missing from the NPC's in a lot or the more recent RPG's.

Chakrams are badass. I love the lightning sound effect mine have. I'm rocking a Greatsword for my primary and Chakrams as a secondary. Really enjoying this game. After 8 hours it still reminds me most of Fable, but Reckoning completely destroys it in just about every way.

Love this game. Been wanting a loot based, dungeon crawler RPG for awhile. Love the combat and love looting stuff.. I HAVE to open every chest, check every plant, explore every inch of every map. Having a lot of fun with the game. Only complaint is may be a little too easy (on Normal difficulty), especially after I discovered how devastating Mark of Flame with the next tier upgrades is.. Mark them, blow them up, ???, profit. Also having a lot of fun with the side quests and faction quests.. Almost forgot there was a main story, only done I think 2? main story quests.. Last one I did is where you go with the fateweaver down into the tower and fight the Tuatha
