Then they go to the prohibition era with the dudes son for the next game. The city is built up and out of the old west and you play this guy whos father or grandfather, etc was an old west legend and your getting involved in organized crime/prohibition stuff.

then the third game goes into the 50's /60's period where the city is even bigger and built up, they continue the story somehow linking it a little to the previous stories and move it forward.

    then the 80's/90's

then a present day story and then finally a futuristic game set in the future and ending the whole story out where the city is huge, the story of this 1 family is crazy and they can have cool "back to the future" futurama type gimmicks and it;; be great and you can still see the town is the same town just now in the future.

I think that would be cool.
They should do the Chicago era prohibition. All the mafia shootouts, and what not. Al Capone style

    NCAA: Wisconsin Badgers

Maybe they can do what canes21 suggested. Rockstar's always pushed the envelope and given us our money's worth. If they could pull this off, I wouldn't leave my home for months.

Yes, I would love for R* to tackle this since nobody other than Mafia can get it done right. It appears that GTA is present day, but R* is starting up new franchises in other eras. Prohibition Chi-Town would be ace. Valentine's Day Massacre anyone?

Whats funny is that Mafia and GTA are both under 2k Games. If it wasn't for 2k, I might not play games as much as I do.

Rockstar would probably be a EA entity had EA not gone all preachy in the mid early 2000s and only release T rated games.

Had Rockstar gone with EA instead, w'd see a GTA every other year that is still good, but they would never reach the level GTA IV and those to follow hit/ will hit.

Considering that San Andreas was the 3rd best selling video game in history, I think an updated edition with a new character as well as could work. It had the San Francisco/San Fierro angle but I always wondered why they didn't venture into Oakland, which would have fit with the CJ character development. The new story arc could expand into Mexico too if necessary to add another dimension too it. It could work. Considering GTA IV revisited NY again as the theme city, A California theme with a newly added Mexico theme could work for the new installment.

Yup, Only until recently has EA taken a more "hands off" approach, letting developers Make the game they want. EA's deal with Valve, Bioware, and Redwood Studios are the template for how to create a game. If R* were to go to EA right now, Their games would not fall off one bit.

San Andreas isn't the 3rd best selling game of all time. You're referring to the recent NPD "all time" list, which only counts the US, no PC titles, and "all time" really means since 1995.

Still, San Andreas was the peak of the GTA franchise, and I would love another.

                      Shock us all, Rockstar.

Who wouldn't love to play both sides of the fence?

I for one would love to be able to play a law enforcement type in a GTA. I'm not sure if they are going in that direction with LA Noire or not. But it'd be neat and VERY different if we could start out as a cop in one city, and then maybe climb the ranks to the FBI or something like that.

Yeah the law enforcement side could be fun for a rockstar game, I just wouldn't preffer it myself for a GTA game, just because the whole idea when you're not doing missions is crime, stealing cars, exploring, no rules.

However, I would be all in favor of an extended/more detailed vigilante mode.

Like I said, a "Pride and Glory" route would rock. It's only a matter of time before we see what they actually do with the game.

I have been playing San Andres again the past few days and I never really realized how much I love the whole "west coast gangster" theme. I loved Vice City because it was like Miami and had a great story. But I really love how Rockstar represented the whole gang aspect.

I wouldn't mind if Rockstar released San Andres featuring RAGE and the online features from GTA IV. I would gladly pay $60 for it. That would easily hold me over until the next GTA. But that probably won't happen, so I really would like Rockstar to go the gangster route again. Maybe some gang in Miami so we get the best of both my worlds?
