    Re: Grand Theft Auto V

First day I get my internet back up and I see this. Hells yeah.

Hopefully it's coming out next year considering it's about to be 4 years since GTA IV.

Also, I thought the green V hinted at San Andreas (Grove Street!!), but the dollar bill thing makes more sense.

I doubt they would be referring to the other mints though. I did know there are other mints though. I like to look at my change to see where its made. I Just was thinking DC. I think that would be pretty bad *** for it to be set in DC.

I'm just saying, DC doesn't have an actual mint. Its just the "headquarters" (aka offices).

If the clue hidden in that was US Mints, then the city would be Philly, as that is the largest/most well known US Mint.

Now, if the clue was simply money which were supposed to associate with government (which is most likely the case), then sure, DC is the city lol.

Semantics maybe, but if you ask about mints, I say the city is Philly :P

Money is pretty universal though. It could mean the excess of South Beach (pretty topical actually), it could mean the pursuit of cash monies in the gangs of LA, it could be associated with generation of wealth (Wall Street comes to mind...although I think everyone assumes it will be a different city this time), or it could be the government who backs the money.

The point is that it really doesn't tell us anything. Frankly, the city doesn't matter as much to me as the gameplay, storytelling, and mission variety...all of which seemed to be lacking in IV.

At least this pretty much confirms that it will be on US soil.

My guess is the game will be set in Las Venturas (Las Vegas) and have a current day L.A./Hollywood playable as well.

Would love DC and BMore though.

Didn't really care for GTAIV. Felt like it was missing something, hopefully V regains that magic/momentum from San Andreas

That's a good point and one I didn't mention in the post above. $$ = gambling?

Again...could mean anything. I wonder if they will drop another hint or two before 11/2?

They took the fun and variety out of it.

Quick, think of a mission from San Andreas.

Now think of a mission from GTA IV.

In San Andreas, you probably thought about flying a jet, those damn remote controlled planes, breaking into Area 51, robbing the casino, rolling with your homies to take out a rival gang, etc.

In GTA IV, the mission you pictured likely involved driving to point A, shooting an individual, then driving to point B...possibly avoiding the cops in the process.

can't take that bet because I believe it is more likely to be DC over Philly as well.

My point was simply that if your association is money = mint then the answer is Philly... if it was money = government, then the answer is DC

like someone else just mentioned though, it could also be viewed as money = gambling which would be Las Venturas.

All that said, I've already posted my infallible thought process... Super Bowl V was in Miami and featured the Baltimore Colts who defeated the Dallas Cowboys. So it will be a 3 section map featuring Vice City, DC, and Dallas... duh! It makes perfect sense!

Damn, you just made me remember the mob coming after you, when you would get yourself in debt at the casino.

Agreed that for the most parts, the missions in GTA IV were a bit unremarkable and quite repetitive after a while. They definitely need a little more imagination in the next game.

Off the top of my head, the only real memorable mission in IV was the bank robbery - Three Leaf Clover

Super excited! But people have to understand that the fact it's GTA V really isn't a clue for like Vegas. It's just the continuation of the series name in roman numerals.

Three Leaf Clover was pretty awesome, though. The "friends" stuff started wearing thin by the end of the game, too.
