Re: Grand Theft Auto V
Tried roleplaying for the first time last night. Didn't really interact with anyone (also wasn't sure my press to talk was working either, lol, but didn't need to).
I installed this: https://fivem.net/
And tried out the Transport Fever server. On this server, you create an identity, claim a job (trucker) and go get a free FedEx truck. Then you can go to one of the selling locations and take it to the buying locations across the map for money. Also being employed gets you a $100 salary every (?) minutes.
So this was all going swimmingly once I remembered the directions (they display when you login, telling you to get a job, truck, etc).
I was trying to obey the speed limit and stuff (for a long time when I was younger I actually really wanted a pure 'driving simulation' which is what I was basically playing at this point), but started getting impatient because it was late. I found that if I did burnouts at lights the AI would freak out and get out of my way, so started doing that.
Then I made a mistake, and hit a car at an intersection. I thought... oops, oh well lets keep going. Watching some streams I know that this can sometimes trigger automatic notices of crimes and stuff, so figured I'd better be on my way.
Before I could get going (it was snowing, traction on my truck sucked) the AI (usually referred to by streamers as locals, so it's easier to refer to them without breaking the 'roleplaying') pulled me out of my truck and suddenly I felt like I was in a Reginald Denny simulator. I fought him off but I'd taken a couple of hits. I hopped in my truck after subduing my attacker and went on my way.
Apparently I wasn't OK.
I got to my destination, but took a wrong turn, that's what I get for relying on GPS. It sent me behind it, down a service road, so I had to go around and come back up to the main road. As I entered traffic and got up to speed I slipped into a coma, but not before opening my door and falling out of my truck, into the middle of the street.
With my truck several car lengths away and stopped, and me laying there on the median in the snow I was given the option to call for EMS or to wait 5 minutes to respawn. Not knowing if my mic was working and whatnot I decided to just call it a night.
Even without other people, just messing w/ the RP functionality (once you get used to it, seems a little wonky in some cases) seems to be a lot of fun.Last edited by mestevo; 12-19-2017, 02:18 PM.Comment

And if you're going for the Criminal Mastermind challenge you'll need the Senora desert facility. 2.2 million I believe.Comment
