Re: Grand Theft Auto V
It'll be crazy if the report about GTA VI not possibly coming out until 2025. I get they want to get away from crunch, Dan Houser leaving, improving the culture, wanting more next gen consoles are available, but that'll be 12 years since GTA V and 7 years since RDR2.
Rockstar is big enough where they can put together a development team for a side project. I hope it isn't a situation where they just rely on the Re-remaster is a way to hold us off for another 4 years. But, it's hard to blame them when they are continually sneaking into top 10 game sales and is racking off of GTA Online. But they essentially had all hands on deck for RDR2, then back for GTA Online.
I do wonder when we will see GTA V Re-remaster. Most likely it will be around 2-3 months prior to launch. So, I can see around GamesCon or laterLast edited by illwill10; 07-01-2021, 10:59 PM.Comment

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
Apparently Dan Houser is starting his own studio/company
I think we may get GTA V E&E info during the next Sony event. It's kinda dumb how they've been very secretive or a re-re-release of a game.Comment

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
I'll always look forward to the next release, even if it's years off, but I'm also a bit more cynical going forward. GTA Online made them completely readjust their business plan, and I think it's a shame we never got the single-player additions that were once planned. I personally don't understand the obsession with that mode, the grind is ridiculously overbearing, but I also acknowledge it's a lot more interesting with friends.
I hope single-player doesn't take a backseat in the next iteration. That's my primary concern. Gameplay improvements are my second concern. I don't mind it being set in Vice City (the VI fits too perfectly), but I pray we get some new locations eventually.Comment

Never touched GTA Online. I do hope the single player campaign isn't a shorter experience. While the Re-remaster is likely to contain additional story content, after 8 years and only RDR2, they should have added Single Player DLC. GTA IV Liberty City was pretty much an upgraded GTA III Liberty City. I understand why they probably don't do remasters of those older games. They have had issues with the main protagonists Ray Liotta and Young Maylay(CJ) make comments about wanting more money because of success of games. So, they took the upgraded location route. But, I would rather see a new unexplored location.
I do want to see better gameplay in VI. IV went mostly physics while V was a mixture of physics and static gameplay. I preferred IV as a whole over V. If they could strike a balance between IV and San Andreas & Vice City, that'll be idealComment

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
But as an adult who doesn't play quite as much I never enjoyed it the many times I tried.
Which makes it extra bad that they've gone this long without a single player game.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
I don't think there's a phase in my life where GTA Online was ever or would be fun. There are some fun elements there, but they're often shrouded in the clunkiest multiplayer system in an online game I've ever seen.
Have had some blasts in more controlled environments, FiveM, LAN parties doing some of the playlists (car darts... snipers vs cars, lol), etc. But the effort to connect everyone together to run a heist is just comical sometimes so we gave up and in my circle it's just nothing that ever stuck.Comment

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
We better not be going back to Liberty City or San Andreas. Been there, done that. Twice.
Lets go back to the scene of the Greatest GTA of all time: Vice City (come at me).
Or Chicago, or London (I know they did that in the 2D era but that doesn't count in my book).
I don't think they will do something in the South because that's RDR territory.
The 70's would great, there something pretty neat to games that go back in time, not having things like cellphones etc.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

I see them doing a modern Miami/Vice City. There numbered games have seemed to be modern era games.Comment

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
I feel they'll stick with modern times and for one simple reason. Online.
They could still make Online in a past period, but staying modern allows them to keep so many mechanics like the cell phone and allows them to transfer more content over should they choose to.
I'm in the crowd that wants to see something pre-2000's, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. I still enjoyed V and Online, but V is a good game, just not a good GTA game in my eyes. Online is fun with friends for short stints.
It sucks seeing your favorite series turn in a direction you don't care as much for. It's popular, though, so Rockstar will keep going the direction they are.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
The new cars always make me come back to this game. Their prices usually send me right back away half the time, but I'm actually somewhat excited about this update. So many classics that I would love to grind 4 hours to afford and drive for 20 minutes before moving on.
