This game is simply amazing and great fun to play.
I've done the early ini tweaks and the face improvement stuff but I think I'm done until the big mods start coming.
Anyways I am having fun just seeing "what's around the next corner" type of gameplay. I'm taking such a sloooow time and soaking everything in. I do have about 6 side quests in my queue so I'll do a couple of them and then go back to traveling around.

You can Hot Key up to 8 items (PC version)
And yes you can pick up items. You have to hold the Activate/Use button. For PC it's the E key. Hold the button and not clicking it, picks items up to move around. Tap button to drop it..
Someone with 360 version can check and see if it works on consoles.
Just to clarify... You only have to hold the button a second or 2 then you can let go and your item will be picked up. Don't have to hold it the whole time. then just tap button to drop it.

Very minor question about a random enconter out in the wild?
Spoiler
Can someone tell me what the Thelmar are? I told one of them I believed in Talos, and they tried to mess me up pretty bad. It led to a chase through the woods where I believe I ran into a necromancer who joined the chase, and then a pack wolves.
Could enemies/npc's change their weapon in the middle of battle in Oblivion? I'm pretty sure I've never seen it, and I've already seen it plenty in Skyrim. Most obvious when an archer ends up in melee range - they'll usually switch to a dagger.

You know I don't think I seen that in Oblivion. I think they'd just keep retreating. Could be wrong though. In any case it is cool to see them switch to melee when they should.

I feel I remember that from Oblivion. In all honesty though, I had so many mods installed that it could have been a product of them and not the vanilla game itself. Pretty cool it's in Skyrim either way though!
I picked up Frostbite Venom from a giant spider and it says , A blood-freezing poison that does 5 points damage to Health and Stamina for 4 seconds,..... Does that mean it does damage to me or to someone that I use it on?
BTW I did end up getting this game with my blockbuster game pass and it is amazing. I think I will go ahead and buy it. This is the gaming I have been dreaming of. One where the game is not so linear and you have a choice as to what you want to do and how to do it.
Anyone else have about 7 main quests then about 10+ in their miscellaneous spot? The whole time I was at a movie with a friend I was thinking, "Wonder what I am going to do next when I get home?"

I believe you can use it on arrows to make them poisonous

Right now i have three in my main section and well over 10 in the misc. section after 6 straight hours of playing after work tonight. This game is amazing. Forcing myself to go to bed now cause i have too many real world responsibilities lined up tomorrow to pull an all-nighter tonight, but its not out of the question for tomorrow night
Love this game. Once I got into the open world I immediately walked away from my objective and went through a couple of mines. I can tell this is going to last a long time.
Went with a Wood Elf. Still trying to figure out how to spec him though. Right now I'm mainly using either a bow or a one handed and magic spell. Not sure if I'm going to spread myself too thin, by trying to level up 3 separate offensive abilities while also going after stealth. Alchemy level starts out higher also on Wood Elf, but I don't see myself putting to much into making potions.

I've been playing this game all night. I need a little help on one of the side quests.
The golden claw
Spoiler
I retrieved the claw from that dude in the spiderweb. I've reached up to the point where you have to spin the rings to the correct symbols. I have no idea what they are. Thought I would see it in his journal, nope. Any help?
Also, the tall *** giant guys... Don't walk behind him and take a whack at him. He chased me across an entire grassfield until I started jumping on rocks.

There was a note or journal you pick up that explains what to do. It said the answer is "in the palm of your hand" or something like that. So basically...look at the claw for the answer
