Also, the tall *** giant guys... Don't walk behind him and take a whack at him. He chased me across an entire grassfield until I started jumping on rocks.

Clairvoyance spell does wonders here. When activated, it illuminates a path on the ground that leads to your next destination, be that an active quest objective, or just a custom marker that you placed on the map. Very handy, even if your character isn't proficient with magic (it doesn't take long to find the direction the line is going).

It's pretty inexpensive and be found in trader stores under "books". You just use the book from your inventory to learn the spell, and then you can cast the spell anytime.

I'm actually attempting to play the game without any active quests (I don't want the markers pointing out my exact destination), and this spell is invaluable in that regard. If I'm directed to go to a certain location, I just slap my custom destination on it and then try to find it. If I get lost, that's where Clairvoyance comes in.

Here's what it looks like in use:

Omfg, well I just had the most epi c epi c random encounter ever!

Well I'm just riding on my horse through the snow on a nice flat plain like area. Well I rode by a troll and was like you know what, I haven't tried fighting one yet so what the hell. Well I ride like 15 feet away and get off and hammer it with my flame and electric spells (one in each hand). Keep in mind I'm only lvl 11. Well he basically laughed at me and smacked me once, I flew back like 6-8 feet and was almost dead. I get out my healing spell and start running only to run into a giant..-_-. Well I take off another direction and equip my arrows and shoot a couple of times then run however the frost troll was just way to fast. Well I turn around and run as fast as I can to the Town of Dawnstar that was a few feet away only to have a Dragon land right in front of me. It scared the heck out of me. Well I run around the dragon and get to the city. Well like 6-7 guards and towns people run out of the village to fend off the dragon and start fighting. Here's what I see, I see the Towns people, dragon, frost troll, giant and 4 wolves that I have no clue where they came from all fighting everything. It was so awesome. I'm running through and doing hit and run tactics on everything with my sword and magic then I decided to retreat and equip my bow and hammer them from distance. I'm the end everything was dead except a couple of guards.

I really wish I took a picture or video of it.....

Oh yeah, this game owns me already. I was outside talking to a friend last night (IRL) and while he was talking I was looking at the sky thinking about perks.

Went with a Wood Elf. Still trying to figure out how to spec him though. Right now I'm mainly using either a bow or a one handed and magic spell. Not sure if I'm going to spread myself too thin, by trying to level up 3 separate offensive abilities while also going after stealth. Alchemy level starts out higher also on Wood Elf, but I don't see myself putting to much into making potions.
I'm playing Wood Elf too. Agile Defender Perk in Light Armor seems invaluable to me, but other than that, I'm sticking to Archery and Sneak trees mostly. Archery is incredibly satisfying in this game, especially once you level up and get some Perks. I don't see myself putting anymore into Alchemy either, at least not for awhile, it seems good enough for my needs currently.

Oh and yesterday I had my first random dragon encounter. I had the female companion you get from Whiterun with me and we're climbing this mountain. All of a sudden she says "I don't have a good feeling about this." I'm like 'what's the prob?' and this blueish-white dragon pops out of nowhere. **** fight. I get it down after about 7 minutes and went to the dragon word wall nearby. Another boss pops out and completely owns us. I'll have to level up, get some more gear and go back. I'm no where near ready to tackle that thing. It was like Volsung but it didn't glitch out like that one did.

I advise all to get into enchanting and get into it early. Hitting a warrior for stamina damage completely incapacitates it. Amazing. Once Im able to craft Dragon Armor its all but over for everything.

I stopped right there. I don't have a companion yet. Spoiler tags please!

I'm thinking things are inevitably going to be spoiled in one way or another with this game. There are so may different ways that we can all can go. What one person thinks is common knowledge because they've experience it, the next person has no clue what they are talking about because they went the other direction.

I'm staying away from horses. You have to get off to fight anything you meet, and if you are doing Alchemy, then you have to get off to pick every damn flower. Just not worth it in the long run, especially since you can fast travel once you discover a place.
