I wait until my wife and kids are in bed. I play from about 10 to 1 every night and I have to wake up at 6:30. Once a week I can't stop playing and I quit at 3. It's not healthy but if I know that if I didn't do it I wouldn't be able to play any games.

About to rent this game from Red box...

I love games like this, but the hardest part for me is choosing the type of character to build and play the game with. Can someone explain the pros/cons of each character type avalaible? And which one they prefer after possibly playing with a few different types? I normaly go with a heavy offense/heavy armor "brawler" type of guy but after reading about the game, it seems other characters would be more fun than doing that.

Just buy it. I don't consider myself a roleplaying game fan and I have spent almost 50 hours of sleep (in the last three weeks) on this game. Many guys on here are already at 100+ hours. Save yourself the redbox fees.

Ok, but still could someone explain the character types and the pro and cons of each? And which they prefer after maybe playing with a few different types...I don't want to spend 20hrs on a game only to decide I hate my character

I wouldn't often say this, but yes, you should buy at. At the very least rent it for one night to make sure you like it and then go buy it.

I have spent 53 hours so far and I feel like I am barely scratching the surface of the game. It is outstanding in that it gives you the openness of a sandbox game, but the questing and storytelling is like a traditional RPG that is story driven. I am close to finishing the thieves guild quest line and it was fantastic. They really seemed to improve this area of the game over Oblivion.

In relation to destruction spells like fireball is it more powerful to have it equipped in both hands and do both at the same time or am I better off alternating between the left and right hand?

It's really hard if not impossible to list pros/cons of each character type because there really isn't any hard set types in this game. Since there are no hard set character classes all the stereotypes are thrown out the window and you can really create anything you want.

A typical heavy offense/armor type usually can't do things like throw fireballs or sneak/backstab attack. In Skyrim you can do that if you build your character to do that.

The only real con of the system is that you can't do EVERYTHING but you can do anything specific you want. Example, you could make a heavy that specializes in heavy armor and two handed hammers that also has healing magic, can summon creatures and can raise the dead. This character wouldn't be able to adequately pick locks, make potions, throw fireballs, shoot bows, use one-handed weapons or a shield. Basically you can choose any 5-6 skills and really excel at them but that leaves the other skill trees that you may be able to dabble in here or there and some that you just won't touch at all.

Yeah, it is a kind of a cool system. I made a one handed weapon, destruction magic, lock-picking, sneaking, light armor, and smithing toon. It works well. The game pretty much allows you to do whatever you want, but you will forgo a benefits of another.

I pretty much feel lockpicking will be must for any of my toons. I must pick locks, it is an addiction!!! Passing up a chest is just not in my DNA.
