    Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The beauty of Skyrim is at the early levels you have basic knowledge of all skills and access to almost all weapon types and armor types and basic spell types. This allows you to play with the various styles early in the game without committing to any specific style. Once you've learned what you like to use and what style you start leaning towards naturally and how you want to go about tackling various obstacles you can then continue specializing your character more. Experimenting in the early game (as long as you don't waste perks) will not hamper your character long term at all.

Levels 1-10 come by so fast that's it's hard to shoot your character in the foot early. You can save the perks till you really know which direction you want to take the game. Like I said as long as you don't wastefully spend skill perks on stupid stuff you'll be able to mold your character how ever you want.

There are people on here that did multiple resarts of the early game and find fun in just playing with multiple styles. Hopefully they settled on one at some point and explore the game more.

Probably looks more bad*** alternating left and right though.

Is that the joker on the wagon?

Never even got to the DB questline. Will do sometime late Jan/Feb though.

Thanks guys, went ahead and bought the game and just started playing now. How did you all go about deciding a name for your guy?

I'm on ps3 as well, are there any differences between the two systems?

EDIT: nvm, deciding to name my guy Ezekiel. No clue what character type to make him though :/

I forgot to name my toon I think. I don't recall seeing my name in any part of Skyrim. Or maybe I that is incorrect.

I am on PC so I can't help with PS3 differences.

Just reached 100 hours last night, and went to Solitude for the first time. I'm going to finally start clearing the quest log and finishing the main story line.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I hate the term "toon"... Why are you guys referring to your character as "toon's" ? lol. Is that an RPG term?

I just try to think of a name I like that will fit the character I have in mind.

Yeah I guess you could say it's an RPG term. I used "char" until I played WoW, where everyone used "toon".

Yeah, definitely a WoW term and an MMO term for that matter. Over 1000 hours in that game certainly alters your verbage that a person will use. Just like WTF. I would never have known what that was until MMO's came around.

                            Agree.

It's not a RPG term though it's a MMO term so it shouldn't have a place in Skyrim discussion.

I'd be completely ok if the term died out.

                              Regarding names:

My wood Elf is called Arrelious....just something ancient sounding.

My Nord is caled Buliwyf; that was the name of the Viking leader in the movie "The 13th Warrior", who my Nord character is based on.

Just another reason to hate WoW then. It wasn't an MMO term 10 years ago, up until WoW release I had played MMORPGs for a long time and beta tested more than a few, by the time WoW came around I was done with them and even declined a closed beta WoW invite.
