I put in a solid 60 hours on the PS3 version but have recently upgraded my PC so have transitioned over to that. I am still in the early parts but it looks incredible, especially with mods.

          Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I finally found the time to get into Skyrim with an earnest effort a few weeks back. I have deviated a bit from the main quest to do the Civil War side quest as a Stormcloak.

But then I made the mistake of introducing my girlfriend to Skyrim. And now I haven't played in a week. I'm like a level 9. She's now almost a 20. It's reaching Penny/Age of Conan levels of obsession. I'd complain, but I have to remind myself of how lucky I am.
The Last of Us is the Citizen Kane of video-games. It is better than every game that has ever come before it, and is the new benchmark for all games to follow. It is nothing short of a work of art.

Trying to wait and see if they'll release a patch for Dawnguard. Game is still enjoyable, but would be a ton better if they patched it.

Hearthfire looks good, hopefully I'll finally get my Skeleton butler. The adoption bit reminds me heavily of Fable 2, where you would give your kid "gifts".

With Hearthfire coming out my love for Skyrim has returned. Still a lot for me to do in that game. My main character is still only a 45, and I have Dawnguard to do w/ him plus find all the Daedric artifacts and max out the werewolf skills.

My elf is my assassin/thief who I still need to complete Thieves Guild and DB quests for.

                          WOW

                          Update on PS3 DLC

Earlier in the month, we provided an update on Dawnguard's status for PS3.

It's been a few weeks, and we wanted to make sure everyone knows where we're at with Dawnguard. Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're working hard to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is obviously not the only DLC we’ve been working on either, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content.

We wish we had a more definitive answer right now. We understand the frustration when the same content is not available on all platforms. When we have an update, we will certainly let you know. We deeply appreciate all the time and support you have given us, and we’ll keep doing our best to return that.

Wow. I don't have the PS3 version of Skyrim but I appreciate this more than if they were to release a buggy mess.

I bought the DLC for Fallout 3 for PS3 and I never was able to play it. I wasted money on that. I feel bad for PS3 owners of this game, but I honestly have to give Bethesda credit for telling the community the truth. You don't see that from dev teams. Most would release it for the profit.

Some would say Skyrim on PS3 was already a mess though. I got at least a good 30 hours out of it before it became a slideshow. I would have liked to have played it much more, but I'm tired of waiting for patches; that's a decision I made and I'm okay with it. There was and still is many complaints and videos about the issues across various forums and sites.

The biggest of which was well documented:

Digital Foundry vs. PS3 Skyrim Lag
Digital Foundry: PS3 Skyrim Lag Fixed?

Bethesda says they knew a percentage of players could run into a bad memory situation, but said their solutions worked during testing.

It's interesting to go back and read Josh Sawyer's (Project Director at Obsidian) comments on Skyrim's issues on PS3, and how he said DLC would be even worse.

All object data (excluding art assets like .nifs and audio assets [VO]) for persistent references is loaded at all times, so that's more-or-less a permanent chunk of resident memory. The number of persistent references invariably goes up with each DLC, so as the number of DLCs increases, the system has less and less memory available. Of course, the player's save game file only gets bigger and bigger, since he or she is going through more or more areas manipulating an increasingly large number of objects.

Now for the past month we hear about performance issues for Dawnguard on PS3 being why it hasn't been released, and Bethesda themselves saying how more content only complicates things further (what Sawyer said). Bethesda later denied Saywer's comments.

In the end, hopefully, Sony engineers can help get things resolved.
