However, I love the fact that you can recollect your arrows after they hit someone. Just amazing.

I assume that's the stealth bonus, right? If that's the case, it won't give you the bonus if you're spotted (though, granted, if a deer spots you it'll run away).

Yes, and at lower sneak ratings those deer can see you from a mile away sometimes. If you're close enough to get a shot off though while standing, immediately crouching and waiting for the hidden notification should get you the bonus.

                Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Just had an amazing dragon encounter. It was the first time I had a random one, and it was crazy. It was night time and I'm strolling around, then I feel the shadow. First off, it's scary enough to have that happen out of nowhere, didn't help that it was at night, lmao.

So the dragon lands, and proceeds to burn the crap out of me. I'm using health potions like crazy, chipping away at him. After about 10 minutes I get him down to about a quarter health. And then it goes off further away from me and starts spitting fire at something else. I'm running towards it to see what's going on ... and it's attacking both a mammoth AND a giant. Needless to say, the dragon went down pretty quickly, and his soul was mine.

It was one of the few moments in gaming where my jaw literally dropped, and I just went holy crap.

Just picked up my pre-order copy with the hard to find collector's edition strat guide (helps to make friends with mgr at local EB).

Now Forza 4(unopened), PES 2012, BatmanAC, and ACRevelations(unopened) will all start to feel like the neglected toys from Toy Story 3.

It's gonna be a fun ride

I'm mixing up the two modes of viewing. If I'm in battle I'll mainly use 1st person, but if there are a sworn of bandits or whatever around me I will switch to 3rd person for a bit. Whenever I'm just cruising around without the threat of a fight, I always use 3rd person.

OK guys count me into the "Skyrim Obsessed" crowd. I think I might need a little help though.

To give some background, oblivion was the first type of game like this I played, I never really "got it" as I just layer it like a regular game, I never understood the closing gates stuff, I just played it like you would play GTA or something.

I never finished it or got too far into it. Now, playing Skyrim, I understand the concepts a bit, but I feel like I am missing out on a lot. For instance, I leveled up to about 10, and I keep getting these points to add to the constellations, but i never get anything out of it. How do I get to conjure people(which I added a point to), etc?

Secondly, how do I shape my character? So far I'm just running quests, killed a few dragons, and have 4 shouts, but I haven't been able to change my character in any way. Like some people are rouges or something, I just run around killing stuff with whatever axe I currently have picked up. Am I supposed to be getting better stuff eventually? Do I buy this stuff?

I keep paying my companion for archery training, but when facing a dragon, I literally do zero damage with a bow and arrow, once I started hacking at it with my sword, he died pretty quickly though.
So far I've done the thieves guild and the dark brotherhood, but other than that its just been some side quests and a few on the main storyline with the dragon borne stuff. Any recommendations on where I should be, or whats the best way to fully develop my character?

I have never played a game like this and I just cant put it down. GOTY imo and I would go on to say that it is a true work of art. I honestly dont have a single complaint about this game and so glad that I ended up purchasing it.

I know there is no right or wrong answer for this, but any real difference between joining the Legion or the Stormcloaks? I'm leaning towards the Stormcloaks for the first time around because I'm more of a Rebal Without a Clue type person.

                              Any thoughts?

The leveling system works in a different way than mmo's or other RPG's. The way you play your game or your play style determines how you level. So if you are using a 1 handed axe, you will see your one-handed skill level grow higher. You will do more damage using your one-handed weapon than you would a 2 hander. So in theory you should be putting at least some of the perks at each level into the skill that you are mostly using. At the same time, if you switch to a bow and try to kill something without really ever using it, you will not be effective with it. Your skills in each of these categories are a numerical value from 1-100. So you should see something pop up on the screen when you are using your one-hander that shows you one-handed skill level increasing.

If you wnat to play as a thief character than you need to play that way, sneak up on people, use daggers, alchemy for poisons, light armor, archery things like that. Your skills will increase in those areas and you will be more effective the more you do those. Remember to put the perks in the areas that you are using.

Spells will not automatically come to you. You need to usually purchase them or read them in a book. You can buy equipment that suits your playstyle or pick up the loot from creatures or people you kill. Every city appears to have a vendor or something of that nature that you can buy equipment from. Or you can craft your own by taking on smithing.

The game is pretty cool in the respect that you aren't confined by class archetypes. If you want a toon that wears heavy armor, casts spells, and uses stealth, you can. If you to use a dagger and shield and wear mage armor and cast fire spells at people you can do that too. My suggestion is to pick up the strategy guide or go to the Skyrim wiki and read up on the game a bit. It helps alot. The manual is garbage really.
