SpoilerThe armor given out with the Dark Brotherhood doubles sneak attack damage. 30x damage is delicious.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
i had been playing skyrim for the last 3 hrs. I decided to take a break and play some bf3. Well I played one match and couldnt take it no more. I put skyrim back in. I just couldnt get it off my mind. Its like when im not playing the game im thinking about my last quest, my next quest, and what I need to level up in.
Skyrim and Batman AC are all I want and am playing and I don't see that changing for months on end.
I will end up playing the crap out of BF3......but I could have waited in hindsight till the game came down 20-30 bucks. Now Playing on PS5:
CFB 26 Hurricanes/Fresno State Year 2
MLB The Show 25 - 2025 Yankees Year 1
MLB The Show 25 1985 Yankees Year 1
Oblivion Remaster

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I just got attacked by two blood dragons and a snow troll at the same time.
Luckily I was in a town and the guards gave the dragons something to snack on, giving me some time to take on each one individually.-Ohio State-

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
So had about a 2 hour session with this game. Like what I am seeing so far. Here are some thoughts:
Pros:
+ Environments look fantastic, particularly from a distance.
+ Killing blows are a nice touch. Loved planting my mace into the face of an enemy. Shocked me the first time it happened.
+ Character models and conversations are much improved over Oblivion
+ Magic effects are nicely done. Very Emperor Palpatine like with the sparks flying out of your hands.
+ So much to do. I spent hardly any time with the game and have so many quests to tackle.
Cons:
- Combat, particulaly with one handed weapons, still feels a little wonky. Don't get the feeling you are actually hitting anything. Just feels empty
- 3rd person is ok. Feels better to play in first person at this pont
- PC controls (mouse and keyboard) are ok, could be better. I went with keyboard and mouse because of the 8 hotkeys.
- Default FOV is ok, changed to 85 and is much much better.
Looking forward to getting some more time with this tonight. Started with an archer character, but really wanted a toon with more magic, so created an imperial wizard/warriror. Focusing on alchemy, light armor, one-handed, destruction.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I am using 2h weapons and was wondering that as well. Hopefully the block perks do apply to 2H weapons because I am happy with that and don't want to use a shield.Last edited by Jonesy; 11-14-2011, 07:04 PM.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I don't know about him, but personally the PC control does feel off sometimes, mostly in menu's. Like in shops, I'll click on say armor, and it will just exit me out of the menu. In the options I'll click on save and it will it take me to load instead, which has lead to a few close calls. In general the menu's are at times unresponsive to where you click your mouse, and will often open another menu in general, and it's annoying. The lack of a mouse sensitivity option is odd as well.-Ohio State-

I've had the random "click on a menu button and have it close dialog instead" thing so I hear you on that one.Comment

I must have missed that then, I'll take a look. Mainly it would help at times with archery, being able to move my aim faster.-Ohio State-

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I wish I didn't have to do the tutorial area to create a new character - would have been better if you could save just prior to stepping out into the world and be given the option to edit anything, even name and race. Granted, it's considerably shorter than Oblivion's tutorial, but the option still would have been nice.Comment
