Omfg, just fought the hardest enemy of my life. Died like 50 times before I barely killed home with hit and run tactics. It involves a mages guid mission:
    Spoiler

Also the girl you got as a body guard died in that mission above. She will be missed.

Shooting a giant in the head only to have him then destroy you with one blow never gets old. By that, I mean I tried for thirty minutes last night to kill the first giant I came across. He ran away from me once and that was the closest I got.

Yeah the noise is annoying. He got killed by one of those Word wall bosses. I don't miss him. He was more often in the way than actually a help. Lydia at least carries my stuff. I'm gonna switch her out for Cosnach, he seemed like he was a better fighter. I'm probably just imagining that though.

That's smart, but you're playing on PC right?
The first cave I went into I searched every inch for anything I'd want to take. I even picked up a lantern which I thought might be the new torch, but it wasn't useable.

I've also opened every barrel, read every book, picked every lock I could and opened virtually everything I've passed so far and never seen one. I just assumed they are out - and also realized that I don't have a hard time seeing anything in the game like oblivion where even during the day some interiors I'd whip it out.

Since I guess things are randomly generated if indeed torches are in the 360 version, the odds of me not seeing one yet is getting into winning the lottery type odds.

I'm playing on the 360 and I found a torch. All of the ones I've seen that I could grab were on the walls as torches in cellars and caves. Some you can grab and some you cant.

                    Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I have a question regarding companions.

I see some of you saying they died along the way for you. I haven't seen this, on two different characters I play I have a different follower/companion and at worst they only get knocked out / unconscious out of battle for a bit.

Eventually (if I survived the fight) they back back up and rejoin you.

My question is this, are you guys playing on a higher difficulty that allows them to be killed?

I also wonder what is the maximum amount of follower / companions that you can have?

Anyone find a site that describes anything about them? Stats, abilities?

Playing on default level and I've had a companion die. Sometimes they get knocked out and get up after the fight, other times they are truly dead.

Only 1 follower at a time. The 2nd will say something like I see you already have a companion, can't join you.

I'm playing on the default difficulty and I had my companion die once but they are typically more resilient than most enemies. The one time she died, we got surrounded by a bunch of bandits and a sabre cat but she has also fought bears by herself and won.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

If I give Lydia any potions for healing will she be able to use them or better yet any other item I give he. I dont have any magic spells that can heal other people yet.

Only in the sense that you get experience for damage dealt and damage taken. A companion cuts down on both of these, but helps you to stay alive.
