Question for the crafters/smithers. Have you found it more profitable to make jewelry out of your gold & silver ingots and gems or just sell the gems outright?

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
For me, I don't use the guide the whole way through (in terms of quests, etc) as I feel that would hamper my experience of finding stuff on my own and being surprised. After the character development stuff (and it's good for later reference in that regard too-to track perk and skill progression, etc), I generally like using it as a one-stop source for alchemy, crafting, spells, etc. It's packed with info and the included map covers more points than the in-game one, so it's good for cross-reference when you get lost/stuck as well.
It's also great for if you plan on playing through multiple times or want to test multiple ways to achieve things. After I play through a time or two, I usually get all completionist crazy and, with a game this huge, it helps to have a road map to see what you missed.
All that said, you certainly don't need that guide, as most of what you might want or need will eventually be somewhere on the internet for free. I just like having it all in one handy place and I also like having it to read or flip through when I'm not playing.Comment

Definitely...12 hours in is like being 5 minutes into another game...lol.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Aw man, just did the sickest quest I've done in one of these games. Seriously what the hell Bethesda?
SpoilerBasically I had to eat a human to join this coven for Daedric prince or whatever. I don't even really understand how I got roped into it. Someone in Markath sent me to investigate the "Halls of the Dead" and there was this woman in there eating corpses. I remember when I first spoke to her there was an option to kill her. I'm a reasonable guy though, I thought that was pretty extreme and decided to see if I could talk it out peacefully.
Somehow though I agreed to help her clear out some cave for the next feast. The whole time I'm thinking 'Okay, we're gonna get to this cave, she's gonna try to eat me, I kill her in self defense, quest over'. But no, after we clear the cave, she sends me back to get the food. The food in this case is a holy priest in Markath.
So I go back, convince the priest to come back to the cave with me and all the while I'm now thinking "Okay, we're gonna get here, she's gonna try to eat him he ain't gonna be havin' that, me and him team up to beat her down." Nope. We get there, and she's there with like 6-7 other people, most from Markath, all of whom I'd had some kind of interaction with of some kind. The guy that sold me my dog is there. The lady from the store I go to everyday, one of the archaeologists from the Dwemer digsite, you get it.
So we get there, I see all the new people and I figure it's about to be a brawl. She hypnotizes the priest and lays him on an alter and tells me to kill him. So now I finally realize there is no turning back for me. Somewhere along the line I agreed with her that this was a great idea and had decided to become a cannibal. Well, just out of curiosity I kill the guy and she tells me I get the first taste. So I eat the dude.
The Daedric entity contacts me directly and gives me a ring that grants extra powers whenever I eat more human flesh.
I didn't keep that save though. My character is not a goody goody but I don't think I'm ready to go to that level of evil. I loaded up another save and Lydia and I laid waste to those fools. I went back to town and the effects of their disappearances was immediate, really cool. This game is ridiculous.PS: You guys are great.

I'm still kinda on the fence with this game, not a big fan of first person games, and games with a "fantasy" type of theme. But I usually check out big release games like this, and the third person view look decent enough. All ties severed...Comment

It will hold as long as you stay in 3rd person (you'll have to readjust if you switch between 1st and 3rd person, but it's easy enough to do).Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Oblivion was meh to me. A little boring and tedious and I gave up on it after awhile. But this is probably the best game I have ever played.
I have at least 20 quests right now (Not counting endless Misc quests) and I've done only two main quests.Comment

Also, for those that might not be aware, you can control (to an extent) your 3rd person view. On the 360, click and hold the R Stick while in the 3rd person view and then uses the L stick to zoom in or out. You can give yourself a wide-arching view or a more over-the-should zoomed view or anything in between.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Also I suggest cranking up the difficulty to expert or master.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Does anyone else lower the difficulty one notch from the default for their first playthrough? I am more wanting to enjoy the game and everything else. It's nothing like Oblivion with the difficulty though where if you lowered it you never died. I still have to be careful to avoid death.NHL: Vegas Golden Knights
