Question for the crafters/smithers. Have you found it more profitable to make jewelry out of your gold & silver ingots and gems or just sell the gems outright?

Definitely...12 hours in is like being 5 minutes into another game...lol.

For me, I don't use the guide the whole way through (in terms of quests, etc) as I feel that would hamper my experience of finding stuff on my own and being surprised. After the character development stuff (and it's good for later reference in that regard too-to track perk and skill progression, etc), I generally like using it as a one-stop source for alchemy, crafting, spells, etc. It's packed with info and the included map covers more points than the in-game one, so it's good for cross-reference when you get lost/stuck as well.

It's also great for if you plan on playing through multiple times or want to test multiple ways to achieve things. After I play through a time or two, I usually get all completionist crazy and, with a game this huge, it helps to have a road map to see what you missed.

All that said, you certainly don't need that guide, as most of what you might want or need will eventually be somewhere on the internet for free. I just like having it all in one handy place and I also like having it to read or flip through when I'm not playing.

I'm sure later on I'll look at a guide to find some stuff I've missed, but the fun bit is wandering around, finding cool stuff. Like(major questline spoilers for a faction)

Aw man, just did the sickest quest I've done in one of these games. Seriously what the hell Bethesda?

          Spoiler

I didn't keep that save though. My character is not a goody goody but I don't think I'm ready to go to that level of evil. I loaded up another save and Lydia and I laid waste to those fools. I went back to town and the effects of their disappearances was immediate, really cool. This game is ridiculous.

For those curious about the 3rd person view:

The ElderScrolls V: Skyrim (Ps3) Walkthrough (3rd Person Mode)

I'm still kinda on the fence with this game, not a big fan of first person games, and games with a "fantasy" type of theme. But I usually check out big release games like this, and the third person view look decent enough.

Trust me, if you get this game you will probably not use third person very much. You would miss a lot of the wonder which Bethesda put into first person.

Also, for those that might not be aware, you can control (to an extent) your 3rd person view. On the 360, click and hold the R Stick while in the 3rd person view and then uses the L stick to zoom in or out. You can give yourself a wide-arching view or a more over-the-should zoomed view or anything in between.

It will hold as long as you stay in 3rd person (you'll have to readjust if you switch between 1st and 3rd person, but it's easy enough to do).

Oblivion was meh to me. A little boring and tedious and I gave up on it after awhile. But this is probably the best game I have ever played.

I have at least 20 quests right now (Not counting endless Misc quests) and I've done only two main quests.

Also, in 3rd person you can use the stick to pan around you character from any angle. When you draw you weapons the camera automatically moves and locks the angle from behind. Holding R3 and then rotating with the left stick lets you get angles of your character even with weapons drawn. As soon as R3 is let go it will jump back to behind you.

Today I jumped in the river, dove underwater and caught salmon. It shouldn't have been as fun as it was, but it was. Also, getting pulled away by the current is amazing.

I loved oblivion but at the same time it had a hollow feeling. This game might be the best game I have ever played,

Also I suggest cranking up the difficulty to expert or master.
I really only have 1 complaint...I wish you had to repair your armor and weapons.

Does anyone else lower the difficulty one notch from the default for their first playthrough? I am more wanting to enjoy the game and everything else. It's nothing like Oblivion with the difficulty though where if you lowered it you never died. I still have to be careful to avoid death.
