Oh those Oblivion gates -- what a bad main quest. But if the side stuff is even more greatly improved over what it was in the last Elder Scrolls it won't matter I guess.

I'm just about ready for a new Elder Scrolls, so it's good (though unsurprising) that a new one is launching this year.

Yep. I'll be pissed if there are more Oblivion gates. Worse part of the game.

I had so much more fun with side quests and mindless wandering, then I did with the main quests.

Have they said much about the graphics or released any early gameplay footage? I'm clearly in the minority on this.. but I couldn't stand the way Oblivion/Fallout looked. If it's the same ol' character models like Fallout New Vegas was to Fallout 3, I'll be pretty disappointed.

Well the trailer graphics were pretty good, better than the last trailer graphics, so they probably improved the graphics. We can't forget the first article I posted. They said it looked like a whole new generation, and I don't think they'd lie or else people would be pretty mad at them.

I didn't see any actual graphics in the trailers or did i miss one? I saw the cgi thing with the dragon blowing the flames but that's far from in game graphics.

Seriously hyped for this game, love the elder scroll series and they are due for a change following getting serious mileage out of the oblivion / fallout engine.

Oh Good, Elder Scrolls V Won’t Use That Broken Old Engine

While the reveal of a new Elder Scrolls game was a blast, it wasn't the best piece of Elder Scrolls news to come out of the weekend. No, the other piece is much more exciting.

Bethesda's Nick Breckon has confirmed that the next game in the fabled role-playing series won't, as originally suspected, be using id'sTech 5 engine. Nor will it be using Oblivion's outdated and broken engine (which so soiled my Fallout: New Vegas experience), Gamebryo.

Instead, it'll be using an "all-new" engine, one built internally at Bethesda. Not knowing what this engine is capable of, we're loathe to pass judgement on it, but working from the assumption that this new one improves on the old one, that's good news for Elder Scrolls fans.

I don't know if it's official, but it seems Todd Howard is finally telling us we get more Elder Scrolls...
Well, there you go, they've already lied. I'd say they saw the bad reaction to the continuation of Gamebryo and just decided to just not tell you that they were using Gamebryo.

That's exactly what I did. I had over 100 hours into Oblivion before I beat it and that was without the DLC.

I recently bought the Game Of The Year Edition and began a new game.

Same here ... I had over 100 hours into the 360 version...

I got the GOTY Deluxe Edition on Steam when it was on sale for $8.49!

Going to start anew, and with improved graphics to boot.

Wonder what engine they will use. Bethesda does own id but I don't know if they would create a huge game like Elder Scrolls in idTech 5 considering it really hasn't been used for anything yet as Rage hasn't been released.

It will not be idTech 5. They confirmed it was a new in house engine at Bethesda.
