    Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Skyrim detected my system as being able to run on Ultra High Quality...we'll see how that goes....I know I'm good on everything with the lone exception of Video Memory - my Radeon 5770 shouldn't have the juice to run this thing at full spec.

Then again, Battlefield suggested its high settings to me and it ran like a slideshow on anything above medium....so who knows.

Here I go! BTW, Steam has a built in screenshot feature (and also easily uploadable) so if there's anything in particular you guys want to see, let me know.

        Spoiler

        So far impressions:
        OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nuff said.. Love everything about it so far. Playing with Gameboard and Mouse so far and its been smooth. We'll see if I get the urge to use controller when things get hot and heavy....but I doubt it.

Love the menu system and the details in the way you can look at items etc...
I'm still having trouble deciding really what exactly I want to become etc...
Love the two handed weapons but also love having a shield. taking a quick break to look at the files and see what alls there..

                Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Got almost 3 hours in on the 360 version. This game is sooooooo good. I have a magic using Aragonion. Magic is so cool to dual wield. Game is more than playable from either perspective. Menu is pretty slick as well.
Little thing...i just love the way the camera transitions from 3rd person back to first person! Tough to really explain but good IMO.

Have my phone next to me while playing so if you guys have any questions I'll check in occasionally. Should be playing all night.
Don't blame me for what those nitwits said...They don't speak for me!!!

Pics spoilered because I'm afraid they're going to show up in full 1600x900 (if they don't, just click on the pic to enlarge it)

Pretty shot taken just out of what I guess was the tutorial area:
                  Spoiler

And a bit of a plot spoiler pic from the beginning sequence:

                  Spoiler

Game is running surprisingly well on Ultra High, given my vid card deficiency - dropped into the 20 FPS's a couple times during the very first part (where you have no control and are just listening to NPC's), but it was around 40 for that outside shot and in the first area stayed up around 50-60. However, one of my biggest FPS drags in Oblivion was when a bunch of people were on the screen at once, so I need to see that before making any real judgments.

Very impressed with the performance so far, though.

Same here. Couldn't be happier. I'm on Ultra high and it's still smooth. time will tell though when a lot is happening.

How bad is it that I just ran home on lunch break to install the game so that I wouldn't have to when I got out?

Can't wait for 7am to hit. And I STILL don't know what race i'm gonna be. I'm leaning toward Orc/Nord and going with one of the two as a 2H/smithing expert with some enchanting thrown in. But magic looks so cool in this as well!

Well poop. I know it's such a petty thing but my copy didn't come with the premium map. Just a crappy regular map about the size of a legal sheet of paper.

Wow, very impressed with the PC version. I spent over 200 hours in Oblivion & Skyrim has me hooked times 10 compared to ES:O in just the first few hours. The game runs butter smooth. I purposely avoided any information about the game and I'm glad I did.

Some of the stuff may be common knowledge, but I'm surprised by the new left & right hand mechanic and the way you can upgrade weapons and armor. I might be up all night! I see a lot of late nights playing this one. Might have to neglect a bunch of games I recently bought also.

Also I just hooked up a 360 controller and it works great for those that want to use it..
