Re: Mass Effect 3
Compiled pre-release quotes:
I especially like these. Spoiler tagged just in case.
Spoiler- “There are many different endings. We wouldn’t do it any other way. How
could you go through all three campaigns playing as your Shepard and
then be forced into a bespoke ending that everyone gets? But I can’t
say any more than that…”
- “You'll get answers to everything. That was one of the key things. Regardless
of how we did everything, we had to say, yes, we're going to provide
some answers to these people.”
- Interviewer: [Regarding the numerous possible endings of Mass Effect 2] “Is that
same type of complexity built into the ending of Mass Effect 3?”
Hudson: “Yeah, and I’d say much more so, because we have the ability to
build the endings out in a way that we don’t have to worry about
eventually tying them back together somewhere. This story arc is
coming to an end with this game. That means the endings can be a lot
more different. At this point we’re taking into account so many
decisions that you’ve made as a player and reflecting a lot of that
stuff. It’s not even in any way like the traditional game endings,
where you can say how many endings there are or whether you got
ending A, B, or C.....The endings have a lot more sophistication and
variety in them.”
- “[The presence of the Rachni] has huge consequences in Mass
Effect 3. Even just in the final battle with the Reapers.”
I think I know the answer, but did any of the reviews mention the ending at all? I believe Hudson has fallen back on "critics' reviews" as a defense against his consumer/fans, but I would imagine if the ending causes such a fervor among the fans then surely the reviews would've at least touch on the ending.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

I'm so confused over this whole situation, so I'm just going to assume it's EA's fault.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: Mass Effect 3
I just made a choice that I am totally ticked about. Didn't have any backup saves either and it auto saved.
SpoilerI let Legion upload the code to the Geth, and they destroyed the Quarian fleet. Then Tali was so upset that she took her mask off and fell backwards off a cliff. The paragon icon popped up as she spread her arms to fall and I hit the wrong trigger and was too late. She's dead now and the Quarian fleet with her. I have the Geth forces but Legion died also uploading the code. Tali was one of my favorite characters too.
Not happy at all right now.SpoilerYou would've been more pissed if you DID hit the button...it's a fake out.
The best shotgun is the one that comes with the special edition. Once you upgrade it anyway.Comment

Only after the fact on podcasts.SpoilerNo closure. No noticeable presence of any of the factions you recruit. I wonder if the ending would even be all that different if I just sped through and ignored side quests.
I'm disappointed. But I can easily see how some people are furious and demand a better one.
It's not even so much as closure as it is lack of information. The ending I got pretty much the only people that I know lived are Joker, Liara, and Javik (who was unharmed). But I had him in my party for the last mission. What happened to Garrus, my other running mate? I thought all three rushed the pulled from nowhere beam thingy with me? Was Garrus killed and lying behind me, cuz I wasn't about to turn around with Shep limped up like that. And not sure if another enemy was about to jump out at me in slow motion. But I doubt it cuz Javik somehow got back to the Normandy. Was he shy for that last scene and didn't come off the ship?
And somethings flat out didn't make sense. Was the Destroy ending wave energy thing physical or like some kinda EMP? Cuz it takes out the Reapers but it also looked to destroy Big Ben and set the whole planet on fire. Yet...a couple no name helmeted Alliance soldiers can just jump behind the all mighty waist high walls and they were perfectly fine? How's that work?Last edited by Eman5805; 03-21-2012, 11:33 PM.Comment

Well I haven't finished the game so I don't know how it ends, don't want spoilers. But I just feel like if companies start changing endings in games just because we don't like something, what's to stop this from happening again.
Just a though.
If I'm wrong then so be it, but that's just my opinion.

Re: Mass Effect 3
BioWare needs to be very careful about how they address this. They chose to do so and want to keep their creative integrity, but if they charge for some semblance of closure after that ending and the day 1 "From Ashes DLC", it's only going to further upset people.
I think they bit off more than they can chew. Your Shepard and choices carrying over from game to game was probably a bigger burden on them than they'll ever admit. Trying to close it all out and please longtime fans, new players, the Action/Story/RPG settings, and multiplayer in a 18 month dev cycle. A project like this should have been 3 years, but that's probably not going to happen under EA's watch.Spoilerhouse with Liara and five blue kids running around
Fallout 3's "Broken Steel" is a good example of how it can be done, but Mass Effect 3 has so much voice work in it, it'll be insane.Last edited by LambertandHam; 03-22-2012, 01:01 AM.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
Beat it two or three days ago, definitely feeling a bit underwhelmed.
SpoilerI think I would be relatively ok with the ending if they just cut out the last part showing Joker and the Normandy running away. Seriously. Served no purpose whatsoever.
I would've been happier with the ending being the Illusive Man shooting you and Anderson (happens if you don't do the renegade options) if that was the way Bioware ended the game rather than their actual one, lol.Bengals

Re: Mass Effect 3
I really think it's a bad idea for them to revisit the ending, the outrage for it was so unnecessary. Anyway you put it, there's a lot of other things to go and complain about other then an ending... and it's not the first time there's been a bad ending.Comment

That ending was god awful, completely warranted criticism. If it wasn't, then it wouldn't have gotten as big as it did.
Can't think of other issues in the game that were glaring enough to complain about. Was fantastic till the end.
