Would you have had to play the 1st two far cry games to start this one? Do you miss a large part of the story if u haven't played those games?

Completely separate games with separate characters/stories.

This thread convinced me so I got this game yesterday on 360 as well

I should mention I don't normally go for 'open world' stuff like GTA, Red Dead, or Skyrim. I tend to get overwhelmed and wind up not doing anything lol. But this game just sucked me right in. I still had a couple of moments last night of wanting to do too many things at once, but I'm having fun so far.

Just curious... Anyone else buy the Maps that show Relics, Letters Of The Lost & Memory Cards?

I bought that Map for the 5 sections of the Island I have unlocked.

Is there any achievement for looting all of the containers? Those maps are $1500 a piece, not sure I want to buy those.

No hunting ......but I do go out of my way to kill those annoying friggin' birds that look like peacocks, but kill like tigers.

I just started playing and I'm about an hour in. I tried to swim to an island and I got attacked by a shark. I escaped but when I got onto the island I was killed by 3 peacock looking birds.

If thats the way I died in real life I would be very upset in the afterlife.

No, you really do not need those maps unless you need some income and have nothing else to use as a better source of income.

There's stuff earlier in the thread, but I'd recommend crafting early on so you can carry more weapons, loot, money, ammo, etc.

Also don't buy weapons in the shop, just do more radio towers and more weapons become unlocked....IMO it would be a waste of money to buy the weapons.

exactly this. start hunting and crafting early and do the radio towers. don't buy guns.

Kill animals if you see them. I need more backpack space and a bigger wallet and now I have to backtrack to find animals I could have killed a long time ago. My wallet maxed out at 1000 and I can't pick up cash until I craft a new wallet.
