Any other tips for a beginner? I just kind of randomly started doing stuff. Going to dive into it soon.

-Sneaking is key in a lot of this game.
-Crouch.....and hide in the bushes/jungle...then sneak up behind if possible(walking on the road pirates are pretty easy this way) and use the knife kill from behind(F key)....
-Use rocks as a distraction and then knife kill to thin the herd if guys are at an encampment
-Use height to your advantage. If they have to shoot up at you....it's also cover and it takes them a while to get to you.
-Get the silencer for the sniper rifle.
-Hide and then fight rather than fight-fight-fight. It's relatively easy to lose them in the jungle.

-You can use the patrol boats to take out pirate encampments on the water. ...who cares how many replacements come in(because you didn't sneak)?....more dead meat for you!

I'm only going with the knife/AK47 and sniper rifle....so it's not a big deal for me as far as weapons...but taking the towers gets you free weapons.
I also only take ammo from my kills...so money isn't something I need...but crafting the larger wallet is key as well as crafting the ammo pouches(those I do use)

Don't be fooled by those peacock looking birds...they are deadly!

I'm sure there are tons more...but I can't think of any right now.

Silence as many weapons as you can, shoot before they see you. If one bullet is good 15 are better.

Just bought the game and I'm loving it but a damn crocodile scared me to death in the first mission.

Is that the one where you collect flowers and pig skins? Same thing happened to me. Wandered into the water and promptly got death rolled by a croc.

The first couple of hours I was getting worked by everything in the game, but now I'm going all Arrow on folks, demolishing a room full of guys with machine guns, with just the recurve bow.

My advice would be to unlock all the radio first, hunting/crafting as you go. It unlocks the guns, if you can I'd seek out relics and letters of the lost too, signature weapons tend to be the strongest of the class of weapons, getting them on the first island almost guarantees your annihilating a majority of your opponents. Using the bow early in the game also cuts down on costs and is fairly common to kill with one shot. As others have said, nearing encampments should always be done crouching. If you can't find a plan of action or simply cannot set up a silent take over, make sure to take care of alarms and you don't have to worry about stealth, but lose out on a good chunk of experience.

Anyone else get a corrupted save on PS3? Everytime I try to load up my game, it says load failed, the saved game is damaged. The ONE time I didn't manually save, and of course, my last manual save was three hours prior to the autosave.

So yah, this game is freaking amazing. After clearing out the first outpost last night I did nothing but side missions and had an absolute blast. I literally loved everything; graphics, gameplay, voice acting, etc. I wish I didn't have to work today and then do another Christmas tonight... Lol.

Oh, and for those that don't know, I have a major fear of open water, and the creatures that reside within (mainly sharks, although they fascinate me). My wife was sitting with me the first time I took a jet ski out, and let's just say she called me a girl, baby, wuss, and much worse... I hopped off the jet ski into the water for maybe 5 seconds, freaked out, got back on and sped back to shore

I have no clue how I'm going to muster up the courage to get those treasure out there... Do guns work underwater on sharks???

This gets even better when you unlock the skill to move faster while crouching.
